Pruebas Operacionales.
(i) En adicin a pruebas de prototipos y medidas de control de calidad, cada gra de
produccin nueva ser probada por el fabricante a la extensin necesaria para asegurar
conformidad con los requerimientos operacionales de ste prrafo, incluyendo funciones
tales como los siguientes:
(A) Mecanismos para subir y bajar cargas.
(B) Mecanismo de subir y bajar la pluma.
(C) Mecanismo de giro.
(D) Mecanismo de viaje.
(E) Dispositivos de Seguridad.
(ii) En donde gras de produccin, completamente ensambladas, no sea suministrada
por un fabricante, tales pruebas sern hechas durante el ensamblaje final.
(iii) Los resultados certificados de las pruebas para gras de produccin estarn
disponibles.
(2) Pruebas de Cargas Clasificadas.
(i) Registros escritos estarn disponibles mostrando los procedimientos de prueba y
confirmando la suficiencia de reparaciones o alteraciones.
(ii) Cargas de prueba no excedern el 110 por ciento de la carga clasificada en cualquier
radio de trabajo seleccionado.
(iii) En donde la revisin de la capacidad de volcamiento sea necesaria:
(A) Gras montadas sobre orugas, camin, y sobre ruedas sern probadas
de acuerdo con la practica recomendada de la SAE, Cdigo de Prueba.
de Estabilidad de Carga para Gras J765 (abril 1961).
(C) Registros de pruebas para la revisin de la capacidad de volcamiento estarn
disponibles.
(iv) Ninguna gra ser revisada en exceso de las capacidades de carga originales a
menos que tales cambios de capacidad sean aprobados por el fabricante de la gra o el
ensamblador final.

Section 5-2.2 Testing
5-2.2.1 Operational Tests
(a) Each new production crane shall be tested by

the manufacturer to the extent necessary to ensure

compliance with the operational requirements of this
section, including functions such as the following:
(I) load lifting and lowering mechanisms;
(2) boom lifting and lowering mechanisms;
(3) boom extension and retraction mechanism;
(4) swinging mechanism;
(5) travel mechanism; and
(6) safety devices.
(6) Where the complete production crane is not
supplied by one manufacturer, such tests shall be conducted
at final assembly.
(c) Operational crane test results shall be made
available.
5-2.2.2 Rated Load Test
(a) Prior to initial use, all cranes in which load

sustaining parts have been altered, replaced, or repaired

should be load tested by, or under the direction of, a
MOBILE AND LOCOMOTIVE CRANES

qualified person. The replacdment of the rope is specifically

excluded from this requirement. However, a functional
test of the crane under a normal operating load
should be made prior to putting the crane back in
service.
( I ) Test loads shall not exceed 110% of the manufacturers
load rating.
(2) Written reports shall be furnished by an appointed
or authorized person, showing test procedures
and confirming the adequacy of repairs or alterations.
( I ) Crawler and wheel-mounted cranes shall be
tested in accordance with paras. 5-1.1 .I(a) and 51. I . 1 (c) for load ratings where stability governs. Ratings
governed by structural competence shall be established
by the manufacturer or a qualified person and tested
to 1 10% of the rating.
(2) Locomotive cranes shall be tested in accordance
with paras. 5-l.l.l(a) and 5-l.l.l(b) of this
Standard.
(3) The rerating test report shall be made available.
(c) No cranes shall be rerated in excess of the
original load ratings unless such rating changes are
approved by the crane manufacturer or a qualified
person.
