Phaedra and Requiro

All at once, it happened slowly, the falling in love of a sailor to a deadly creature of the sea. He
saw her eyes. He knew from those eyes that she was love and she was danger and he let himself drown.
Requiro had been sailing since his father died on a shipwreck when he was also sailing on the
great seas. His mother let him sail despite the trauma from the death of his father for he insisted to do
such. For so many years he sailed through the vast seas of east and west. It was a long and tiring journey
of discovering the wonders of the deep seas.
Once when he was sailing on Tyrrhenian Sea near the island of Capri with his men, he was
stunned with a voice singing a sad song. It was the most beautiful song and voice he has ever heard. He
knew that they were just close to where the voice was coming from. He ordered his men to slow the ship
down so he could swim. He swam around cliffs and rocks until he saw a figure of a woman sitting on one
of the rocks. He swam towards her for he knew that she was the one singing the song. What he saw was
beyond the beauty of the seas he had been before, a lady of perfection. She had a long, cascading black
hair with luscious lips and dark eyes of long eyelashes. Her body was voluptuous and as seductive as her
voice. He couldnt help not to come closer.
May I know who you are, beautiful creature? he said.
Phaedra, she responded. For a brief fleeting moment they looked at each others eyes and he spoke
quite audibly the words that he had to say
I love you. he cried
Sail again. Ill be waiting. she said then damped a kiss on his forehead. She dove into the water as
Requiros men started to call out for him. She disappeared completely and he knew that she would be
waiting.
When he got back to his town and told his mother that he would never come back because he
found what he was searching for, his mother knew that it was all wrong. She said that he would be killed
just like his father but he said that no words could ever hold him back.
Shes a siren! her mother cried.
But I love her. He said. And that made her mother silent. He bid his farewell and sailed away.
He sailed back to where he first saw her. There on the rocks, Phaedra was sitting and waiting. He came to
her and they dove into the deep sea until they reached the cave of the sirens. All of the sirens were
looking at him viciously as if he was the prey of the hunt.
Welcome, to the place where your father has died. Phaedra said.
Then he knew that it was the end of him and to love a siren was a curse to all men.
