Name of MCT:

Please add specific comments about the student teachers observed strengths
during this teaching practicum and identify areas in which you feel further
development is necessary.
Observed Strengths: /
The puzzle was a great way to get
students to cooperate.
Great emphasis on full sentences.
Great attempt on making every
moment a teachable one. For
instance, as you were writing the
objectives, you ask the students if
they know how to spell the word
shadow.

Areas in which further development is needed:

Properly introduce the lesson or ask probing

questions to activate prior knowledge on the topic.
Must develop a teacher voice. Students were unable
to hear you.
Review the class rules and consequences prior to the
lesson.
Must focus on all students and focus their attention to
the lesson.
Must be more patience in acquiring answers from the
students. You asked the question but did not wait for
the answers nor provided any clarity.
Improve your questioning techniques to assist
student, but not overwhelm them with so many
questions.
Praising and rewards are great ways to engage
students and get them to participate. However, when
done in excess, it can counterproductive.
Students at that age have a very short attention
span, the amount time spent lecturing has to be kept
to a minimum.
Use language that the students can understand. You
were talking about lights with different wavelengths
in your PowerPoint. They are not ready for the
concept of wavelengths.

General Comments:It was difficult to determine the objectives of your lesson. The majority
of the time was spent on explaining concepts such as wavelengths. The students were
disinterested since they were bored. The amount of time spent lecturing must be reduced to
no more than 15 minutes. The explore portion of your lesson has to be an activity. For this
lesson, it was a story. There was a lack of focus on the objectives of the lesson. There no
emphasis on the comparison between light and dark. The shadow activity could have been
done in groups while they observe and explain why a shadow occurred.
Aim for Next lesson
Better alignment between the objectives and the activities
Reduce teacher talk and improve students cooperative grouping.
Less extrinsic rewards
