Activity 1 LTE Capability

Answer the following questions as well as you can. Dont worry if you cant answer some or all of the
questions.
Part 1 What bit rate do you think is achievable in an LTE cell?
Part 2 What bit rate do you think would be realistic expectation for an early LTE user?
Part 3 Identify some key benefits for an operator in rolling out LTE.

ACTIVITY WORKBOOK

Activity 5 LTE Wireless Link Configuration

The grid below represents the Resource Grid of a downlink LTE radio channel. You are asked to mark in
the locations of the following elements.

The rest of RB that the indicated RE belongs to

The rest of the subframe that the indicated RE belongs to
The set of REs that would be reserved for Reference Signals
The maximum configurable set of REs that would be reserved for common control channels
The remaining set of REs that would be available for scheduled traffic within the subframe

Assume that the RE (Resource Element) highlighted with a dark border occupies the first subcarrier in an
RB (Resource Block) during the first symbol period of a subframe.
All of the above should be determined on the basis that the Resource Block is NOT one of the central six
RBs in the channel, that the normal CP is in use and that 2x2 MIMO is configured.
