Formerly known as Saigon, today

Ho Chi Minh City is the bustling
and vibrating economic centre of the
South. Over the past few centuries,
Saigon was called the Pearl of the
Far East and was an important
trading centre for Chinese, Japanese
and Western merchants who
travelled along the Saigon River.

Your sightseeing tour takes you

atop Saigons newest landmark, the
262 metres high Bitexco Financial
Tower which has a shape of a lotus,
Vietnams national flower. The high
speed elevator takes you up to
the observation deck where you
experience a fantastic 360 degree view of Saigon City and its surroundings.
Visit Lam Son - Opera Square with its famous historic landmarks, such
as the Opera House before continuing to the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Inaugurated in 1880, the cathedral became the spiritual and cultural
crucible of the French presence in the Orient. As was the Post Office
designed by Gustav Eiffel and resembling a grand railway station.
Visit the former Presidential Palace, renowned for its symbolic role in the
fall of Saigon in 1975. Round up your tour with a visit to the colourful Ben

The Mekong Delta

Full-day chauffeur-driven private car
and boat excursion with lunch
The Mekong Delta region
displays a variety of physical
landscapes, ranging from
mountains and highlands in the
north and west to broad, flat
plains in the south. The region is
famous as a large rice growing
area and produces about half
of the countrys rice output.
Much of life in the Mekong Delta
revolves around the river and
many of the villages are often accessible only by water canals.
Your excursion starts with a transfer to Cai Be, a two and a half hour drive
from Ho Chi Minh City, from where you embark on the Cai Be Princess
boat, a comfortable sampan built in traditional style. The tour begins with
a cruise through the floating market, which provides a fascinating insight
into life on the mighty Mekong. You will also visit some local home factories
to observe the making of rice paste, rice pop-corn, coconut candy and dried
longans.
A delicious lunch will be served at Le Longanier, a superb Indo-Chinese
villa located in a lush tropical garden by the river.
After lunch, your sampan will proceed to Dong Hoa Phu canal, passing
several islands famous for their fruit orchards. Stops on the way can be
made at An Binh Ancient Church or at Tam Ho Bonsai Garden before
returning to Ho Chi Minh City.

The Cu Chi Tunnels

Half-day chauffeur-driven private car
and speedboat excursion
The tunnels of Cu Chi are an immense network of underground passages
and were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam
War. The tunnels were used by Viet Cong guerrillas as hiding spots during
combat and also served as supply routes, hospitals and living quarters
for numerous guerrilla fighters. Life was difficult for the inhabitants of the
tunnels and to protect themselves against intruders booby traps were laid
throughout the complex. This excursion provides a fascinating insight into
the living conditions of these freedom fighters and the amazing ingenuity
employed to maintain life in the tunnels.
This excursion begins with a transfer
to the Saigon River, where you embark
on a speedboat ride to Cu Chi
(70 kilometres north-west of Ho Chi Minh
City) to see the amazing complex of
underground tunnels used during
the Vietnam War. There are more than
200 kilometres of tunnels, comprising
a main axis system with many branches
connecting to underground hideouts,
shelters and other tunnels.

Old ammunitions

You can explore this amazing

underground maze of passages and
also test your shooting skills with original
AK47s and other guns from past wars

Hoi An/Hue

Hoi An & Hue

Captivating old-world elegance

Hoi An

Hoi An

The ancient town

Located on the banks of the Thu Bon River, Hoi An was an important port
in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, attracting traders from China, Japan
and Europe, whose influences can be seen in the citys rich architectural
heritage from tube houses with their narrow shop frontage leading to living
areas behind, to Chinese pagodas, ornate public halls, family shrines, the
extensively restored ancient town and the fascinating buildings in the trafficfree Old Quarter.
As befits a mercantile city, todays shopping is amongst the best in the
country. The Central Market not only offers myriad foodstuffs but a wonderful
range of clothing and fabrics, especially exquisite and inexpensive silks.
Bespoke clothing can be made in a day.

Hue

The imperial city

Tu Duc Royal Tomb, Hue

The former Imperial capital of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802-1945), Hue is

significant cultural and historic centre with a long tradition of intellectual
thought, Buddhist piety and sophisticated cuisine. Whilst very definitely

a Vietnamese city, there is also an unmistakably French ambience redolent

of colonial times that adds to Hues appeal.
The city is dominated by the Citadel, which combines designs and layouts
as prescribed by Chinese geomancers with the practical military architecture
of the French, whose massive ramparts contain temples, tombs, palaces,
lotus ponds, libraries, theatres, watchtowers, statues, bastions and moats.
Places of interest: Hoi An Japanese Covered Bridge; Cantonese
Assembly Halls elaborate carvings and colourful tapestries; Houses of Tan
Ky and Quan Thang are magnificent examples of traditional homes and
shophouses; Tran Family Chapel, an ancestral shrine; flamboyant Phuc Kien
Assembly Hall; Quan Cong Pagoda.
Hue The Citadel containing the Forbidden City and royal palaces;
Notre Dame Cathedrals extraordinary Franco-Vietnamese architectural
combination; Bao Quoc, Dieu De and Tu Dam Pagodas; Dong Ba Market,
for everything from fresh food to clothes, cosmetics and toys; Royal
Antiquities Museum.
For the family: Hoi An Cua Dai Beachs white sands and lovely views
of sea and islands.
Hue A boat tour on the Perfume River gives superb views of the city
and the bustling river traffic.

Hue Citadel

Full-day chauffeur-driven private car

excursion with lunch
Located in Central Vietnam, Hue was
the former capital of the last dynasty
of Vietnam and has an elegant setting
on the banks of the Huong Giang
or the Perfume River. Founded as a
royal city in 1687, it is known for the
magnificent architecture of its citadels,
palaces, royal tombs, pagodas and
temples built under the Nguyen
Dynasty. The city has preserved its
cultural heritage and is probably the
best place in Vietnam to get a sense
of the past and imperial court life.

Tu Duc Royal Tomb

The first stop on this excursion is

the Hue Citadel - built by Emperor
Gia Long. The Citadel is a square
two-kilometre wall encompassing
three walled enclosures; the Citadel,
Kinh Thanh Hue, the Yellow Imperial
City, Hoang Thanh and in the centre the Forbidden Purple City Tu Cam
Thanh where the Emperor lived. The Hue royal complex has been officially
recognised by the UNESCO as a World Heritage site.
Continue your tour with a visit to Tu Duc Royal Tomb, considered to be
one of the three most beautiful mausoleums around Hue. The emperor
Tu Duc held the longest reign during the Nguyen Dynasty and his tomb
is situated on Van Nien Hill, five kilometres outside of Hue.

My Son and the

ancient town of Hoi An

Afternoon chauffeur-driven private car

excursion with dinner

Temple ruin of the My Son

Set within the jungle, 55 kilometres

from Hoi An are the enigmatic ruins
of My Son, the most important
remains of the ancient kingdom
of Champa and a UNESCO World
Heritage site. This complex is
regarded as one of the foremost
Hindu temple complexes in South
East Asia and is often compared to
other historical sites like Borobudur
and Angkor Wat. Surrounded by hills
and overlooked by the Hon Quap
mountains, the My Son Sanctuary
is a large complex of religious
ruins comprising of more than 70
architectural remains.

Later you continue on to Hoi An and discover this charming little town on a
leisurely walking tour. Having largely escaped the destruction of successive
wars Hoi An oozes history. You will visit some of the historic merchant and
community houses, places of worship and the famous Japanese Covered
Bridge. A visit to Hoi An takes you on a slow enlightening journey into a
fascinating past. Have dinner in a local restaurant and enjoy some free time
