Introduction: English is an international language that connects borders. It gives
people from non-speaking countries the opportunity to communicate, do business and study. UPNFM has seen and understood the importance of speaking a foreign language and provides through the Language Center (CI-UPNFM) the opportunity to learn English as a Foreign Language. Required Textbook: New American Framework, Richmond. Required Hours: B1 requires 130 hours of Classroom classes and 30 hours of independent study (platform and workbook). Students who dont complete a minimum of 125 class hours will be asked to repeat the course. Exit level: At the end of the 160 required hours of instruction, you will: 1.
Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters
regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. 2. Be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling in an area where the language is spoken. 3. Produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. 4. Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. Evaluation: The evaluation will be done as follows: Reading 25%, Writing 25%, Listening, 25%, and Speaking Dates: Friday Week 4: Test one 20% (3 units) October 17th Friday Week 8: Test two 20% (3 units) November 11th Friday Week 12: Test three 20% (4 units)December 2nd Friday Week 13: Final Test 40% (English Lab) December 5th Your instructor will keep you informed of your progress in class.
