Dear to whom it may concern,
My name is Rachel Jorgensen. I am currently in my fourth year of the Bachelor of Applied
Science in Kinesiology and Diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion at the University of
Guelph Humber. I am submitting my application for a position at this establishment. This
establishment matches my interests and goals within the Kinesiology field and I believe I
would be a great asset to your team.
As a fourth year student, I have gained a thorough understanding of the body and its
functions. This knowledge includes functional anatomy, physiology, health counselling and
behaviour change, biochemistry, biomechanics and nutrition. Throughout the last four years,
I have been fortunate enough to participate in human anatomy labs, fitness assessment labs
and biomechanics lab which have provided me with hands on experience in the observing
and assessing of the body. One lab in particular taping and bandaging provided me
knowledge and understanding of how to support and stabilize injured individuals. The course
Exercise Prescription has furthered my understanding of how to accurately prescribe
exercise and educate individuals on how the movements are performed. Applying the
knowledge I have gained from this class and these labs allows me to feel more experienced
and comfortable working with individuals and aiding them in their efforts to lead a healthier
lifestyle.
I currently have the opportunity of a placement at Physiomed Humber working alongside
physiotherists. I am gaining important knowledge regarding treating patients and dealing
with numerous types of injuries that I will be able to apply to my field placement. Ive
learned how to properly use all the modalities to treat the sources of pain and discomfort as
well as how to coach and cue exercises and stretches for the patients. This clinical
experience has allowed me to feel more comfortable while treating individuals. My mentality
of determination and my ability to work well with others will allow me to successfully
encourage and assist individuals in reaching their goals.
