Introduction

In this project we will show you the correlation between two very important characteristics,
which are Mindfulness and Bravery.
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you
observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead
of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to
experience.
On the contrary, Bravery is having the courage to quit when you know you're on the
wrong track, even if hundreds of thousands of people are headed in one direction. It's knowing
when the path you are on isn't the one for you. It's taking that scary leap, swimming upstream, or
wandering down unfamiliar trails. It's putting yourself out there, even if "out there" is pushing
past your own mental barriers. It's deciding that now is a better time than later. Bravery is
bravery, even if it doesn't look that remarkable to anyone else.

Theory
We can agree that bravery as a characteristic comes as a result from our mindful
characteristic.
By being mindfulness we can see if we have many fears and we are not likely to jump in or face
a dangerous or extreme situation, by observing our thoughts and feelings about fear and
dangerous situations we can conclude that we have to face the fears and become braver.
But not always bravery is strongly connected with mindfulness; sometimes these characteristics
just do not have any correlation. This may occur when we are ignorant to ourselves and we dont
listen to the voice of the mindfulness.

Bran thought about it. 'Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?' 'That is the
only time a man can be brave,' his father told him.
George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Hypothesis
If mindfulness will increase, then the bravery will increase too.
In order to commit our hypothesis, we will use an example of one very brave person,
Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Mandela served as an advocate for black rights in South Africa during 1960s.
During his life, he sacrificed many unimaginable things. Mr. Mandela was willing to leave his
whole life behind, including his own family, for a cause he strongly believed in. Due to his
daring speeches and boycotts, he was sentenced to prison for eighteen long years. In those years
and after, he continued to fight for what was right. All because his strong conviction gave him
the strength and courage to do what desperately needed to be done for his country. No matter
how scared he might have been, Nelson never faltered in his beliefs. He always said, I learned
that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who
does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
He ventured beyond the realm of just believing in something and became a leader who
endured much hardship to demonstrate the importance of his belief. Mandela sacrificed
everything he knew for what he thought was right. He believed he could make a difference and
give all South Africans a chance at a better life. He essentially gave up a large part of his life to
ensure that others would not have to.

Methods
Our participants:
We tested fifteen students who study Design and Architecture which were at the age of 19
and 20 years old. The students were asked to answer anonymously and honestly to the given
questions.
The participants who are included in this research project are 8 students. We gave them
anonymous questionnaires, with several amount of questions, which are connected with our
project theme.
Measures:
In order to make this project possible we used:

1. Anonymous written survey to collect answers

2. SPSS (a software in which we placed all the information from the questionnaire in order
to get a correlation between bravery and mindfulness)
3. Used literature to connect and correlate mindfulness and bravery

Procedures:
Before testing the students, we made two separate papers, one was with questions that
could show mindfulness as a characteristic and the other paper was about bravery. After that, we
made several copies and we were ready to go and test the students. In February we meet with the
students and gave them the questionnaire, when all the students were provided with the
questionnaires we gave them instructions how to fill them and we explained that there is no write
or wrong answer. When the students fulfilled all the questions we proceeded with placing the
given results in special software that gave us the correlation between the two characteristics
mindfulness and bravery.

Results

These results show that we have no correlation between mindfulness and bravery.

Discussion
From the information in the table above we can strongly say that our information doesnt
support our Hypothesis. There is no significant correlation between mindfulness and bravery.

Conclusion
At the very end we can conclude that there is no correlation between mindfulness and
bravery.
Still mindfulness is a unique characteristic that can lead us to a peaceful and positive life,
because we can observe our thoughts and feelings from the side and decide what we can change
or what we can ignore. People which are not mindfulness are ignorant to themselves.
On the other side we have the characteristic bravery which is giving us strength to experiment
with our lives and have unforgettable journeys and experiences.

Be brave, take risks. Nothing can substitute experience

and living your life to the fullest!
