About this document

the iBaan ERP Common Installer (U7505B US)

installed from CD-ROM.
Chapter 1, To install iBaan ERP Windows for Windows installer, describes the
BW installation through the iBaan Common Installer.

subdirectories created in the installation directory.

iv

To install iBaan ERP Windows for

Windows installer
The installation of BW is carried out through the Baan Common Installer (BCI).
For a custom installation in BCI, the following procedure applies.
1

After selecting the client products in BCI, the individual installers of the
products are called. For BW, the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) is
started.

This dialog box will automatically disappear. If Windows 2000 is installed,

or if MSI has been previously installed, the MSI dialog box shown in Step 4
will appear next. Otherwise, MSI will be installed.
NOTE

There can only be one MSI-based BW on one system. If a previous

MSI-based BW is present on the system, it needs to be uninstalled prior to
installation of the new version.

NOTE

However, an MSI-based BW can coexist with traditional InstallShield-based

BW installations.

when required, click Next, and skip the remainder of this step. Note that this
deferred installation option, called Install-on-Demand, is not supported on

NOTE

The default installation path is C:\Program Files\BaanERP. To be able to

reuse configuration (.bwc) files from a previous installation, choose Custom
Installation and direct the new path to the installation path of the previous
version of Baan Windows.

NOTE

Worktop is iBaan ERPs user interface. To use Worktop in Central

Deployment mode, Worktop shares some directories (such as the Baan
Windows installation directory). Because Worktop does not accept spaces in
directory names, you should not use spaces in the installation directory name.
9

In the Ready to Install the Program dialog box, click Finish to continue
with the displayed setup (or click Back to change the displayed setup).

10 After the software is installed, you must click Finish to exit the installation
