You want a flashbulb thatr

1. Gives the rigbt amount of light.

2. Synchronizes with your camera.

3. Flashes safely.
G-E flashbulbs tneet all of these requirements with flying
colors, in fact they are especially noted for their potent punch
of light and uniform dependability. Of course, top flash performance is to be expected because General Electric has
consistently led the industry in progressive research, design,
development and precise manufacturing conrols since G-E
introduced the 6rst flashbulb to tbis country in 1930.
G-E flashbulbs do a much better iob because of built in
"quality plus" features such asl

super thin filament heats faster, even on weakened

batteries.

A special,

easy

firing primer makes Sure-Fire flash pic-

tures a certainty.

Bent leads keep the bulb walls free of primer blast.

You gain approximately l5Vo rr'ote light"Pure tin" solder cootact on the base always stays shiny
and uncoroded,

!/elded side contact carries current more

efficiently.

Looks neater too.

One piece aluminum base gives better electdcal contact
and positive flashing.

Double safety coating on every G-E bulb.

TIPS FOR
FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY
A flash picture is a better picture. . . besides, with flash you're sure
of every shot. Here a(e some tips on using flashbulbs'

IMPORTANT

Play safe
FRESH BATTERIES ARE
install new batteries after three months or 1oo flashes.
Veak batteries caase goVo of all flash failures. Some batteries
are so weak they won't flash a bulb or they burn out the tiny filameot
(with no visible flash) without igniting the foil. Even new
batteries will not flash a bulb which has a burned out filament.

Indoors, flash gives the right amount of .tight so you're sure of good
pictures. In daylight, flash puts detail in those murky shadows . . .
for better pictures.
Blue flashbulbs should not be used with black and white film.

SHOOTING COLOR WITFI CLEAR G-E FLASHBUTBS

If

you wish to stop fast action, shoot sevflashes per second. or shoot several
thousands of flashes with one lamp . . . a
flashtube is the answer.
A flasbtube produces a brilliant flash of
blue-white lighr lasriog from l/2ooth to
t/l,ooo,ooorh second, depending on the
particular lamp and power supply. The
bluish light makes excellent pictures on
black and white film as well as on daylight

the wafer base at three points for added
srrength.

G-E LOW VOLTAGE PIUG-IN

G-E LOW VOLTAGE STUDIO

FLASHTUBES. These lamps are primarily designed for studio equipment. Their

low voltage design, which Per:mits a lower

cost power suPply, provides a moderately
fast flash duration with plenty of light. For
example, FT-306 flashes uP to 8oo wattseconds and FT-506 uP to 1OOO watt'
seconds.

G-E HIGH VOITAGE STUDIO

FTASHTUBES. For many year:s these

tubes have been the standard for studio
strobe units. They feature intense ligbt of
very short duration and the modeling light
(ioside the flashtube helix) allows exact
positioning of lights prior to exposure.
Although the appealance of these lamps
are similar, the FT-5O3 has a quartz helix
which withstands higher energy loadings.

medium beam lamp designed especially for use on
movie light bars. Pours twice as much ligbt into the

frames per second or faster. Lamp must be used in

more compact types. This medium beam reflector

Discerning amateur and professional photographers

have long preferred G-E enlarging lamps because
their smoorh ligbt distribution makes sharp, professional looking enlargements a matter-of-fact operation. When the enlarger is equipped with a G-E lamp
you know you have the best possible distribution of
tbe right color light . . . whether you print black and
white or color.
There is a special General Electric lamp for every
eolarger. It makes no difference wbether it is a vertical

or horizontal enlarger.. . or whether it has a condenser, diffusion, or combination lamphouse system.

Certain G-E enlargr'ng lamps ate clear, others are
white or inside frosted, aod four are circular fluotescent... two white and two blue.
In the eolarging lamp specifrcations below, the
asterisk (*) designates lamps tbat are available ftom the
Large or Miniature Lamp Departments of the General
Electric Company.

by putting maximum strength whe.re shipping and operational
shocks are greatest.

Mechanically Assembled Bridges for uniformly accurate posirioning of filament.

Filament Supports Arc Jig-Formed to anchor coils in exact alignment. Consistant lamp life is assured.
Mechanically Formed Filamenls minimize heat losses and give
higher average screen brightness, Famous NoD-Sag tuDgsten

Shock Absorbing Molybdenum Rods cradle the 6lament. Molybdenum expands proportionately with the filament keeping coils

PRICE SCHEDULE

This section is designed to give you a handy reference to the sPecific lamp for aoy
particulat projector. The next two pages alphabetically list the G-E lamps and
specifications for the proiector-lamp guide section immediately following.

IIPS ON USING IHE PROJECIION IATTIP GUIDE

Choosc Thc Proper CateEory. Proiection equipment is grouped by type and application. Categories
include 8mm Proiectors, 16mm Proiectors, Miniature Slide Proiectors, Lantern and Opaque
Projectors, Sound Lamps for Motioq Picture Proiectors, aod Viewing & Editing Equipment'
Sclest The Proiecior By Model Name And Number. All projectors are listed alphabetically by
projector model. The name of the manufacturer will not usually be listed in the left columnFo. e*ample: A National Color Tru-Hue projector would be listed under "Tru Hue"' The
second columo shows the model number, the third gives the manufacturer and the fourth
lists the lamp or lamps recommended for this specific proiector.
Lamps Are ldentified By The New A.S.A, Codc. You will note that the recommended lamps
listed in the fourth column afe designated by the new rhr:ee lettef A.s.A. code. vhere
projectors have several lamps listed, rhe first lisred lamp is always the maximum wattage tyPe
and the first recommendation, Codes printed in heavy type indicate that these lamps have an
opaque top. Black or Gold Top lamps are recommended in most cases to minimize stray light
from the projector for more comfortable viewinS.
To ldentify And Order Lamps, The three letter A.S.A. lamp code is all that is needed to
completely identify and order G-E Photolamp proiection and sound lamps. The comPlete
listing of lamps on Pages 28 and 29 is aranged in alphabetical order by code Complete
specificatioos are included with the lamps on rhese pages. For curr:cnt prices see tbe "G-E

Photolamp Price Schedule."

PROJECIION IAIIIP ilPS

10-Hour Projection Lamps Are Brighter. Medium prefocus 5OO, 750 and lOOO-watt Projection lamps are available in both 10 and 25-hour life design. The 25-hour design is used

most f-requently. However, when maximum screeo brightness is required, the lo-hour lamp
may be safely used in the same socket and proiector. Lamp wattage is the same with either the
1o or 25-bour lamp but the lo-hour lamp puts lo7o to l57o more light on the screen.
In lo0o-watt lanp desigos the lo-hour lamp is most commonly used since maximum
screen brightness is usually required. These lamps are also available in 2 5-hour design where
longer life is desirable aod less screen brigbtness can be tolerated.

SUBSIIruING HIGHER WATIAGE IAMPS

Motion picture and slide projectors ate designed to give best cooling aod performance with
lamps of specific wattage, The design wattage will be found on the name plate of every proiector. Higher wattage lamPs may result in film damage, severe lamp distortion, and even
possible damage to the proiector's lenses and housing.
