International Support

The Indian smart cities mission has attracted global attention. Smart Cities
India 2015 expo attracted participation from 40 countries as exhibitors, speakers,
sponsors and delegates. There were three country pavilions from European Business
&Technology Center (EBTC), Poland and Sweden.
H.E. Mr. Harald Sandberg, Ambassador of Sweden, inaugurated the expo
complimenting India on its intent to develop smarter and sustainable cities. Mr.
Sandberg also inaugurated the Swedish country pavilion, which had 13 companies
demonstrating their products and services.
Europe has most of the successful smart and sustainable city references in the
world with an emphasis on the quality of life for its citizens. EBTC organised the
large Europena group pavilion, with 17 companies. EBTC facilitated many city-to-city

6 | Smart Cities India 2015

experience sharing and matchmaking sessions between the European delegation and
Indian representatives. Along with the pavilion, EBTC organised sessions on Towards
EU-India smart cities cooperation and Leveraging European case studies.
Poland, too, hosted a pavilion at the expo. 10 Polish companies expressed interest
to partner Indias smart cities and industrial corridors, exploring investments in the
power and mining sectors in the Indian states. Smart Cities India 2015 expo served as
the platform to display and lead a GreenEvo workshop on Smart and Green Solutions
from Poland, which was held on the third day of the event.
A 20 member delegation of leading architects from France participated, and held
a special session on The French approach to the Sustainable City discussing urban
design, green architecture and the landscape.

testimonials

The exhibition and conference offered an opportunity for the industry to showcase
their smart offerings and enabled a collaboration of thought leaders from various
domains and backgrounds. The sessions hosted by Bosch at the expo were very well
received with excellent audience participation as well as media presence.

We are extremely happy with our participation in the Smart Cities 2015 expo. I would
say Exhibitions India did a commendable job to pull stakeholders from across the
spectrum in the very first year. Lavasa has always generated respect and curiosity as
Indias first smart city, and we saw that at its peak in the expo.

Vijay Ratnaparkhe, President, Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Limited

Aniruddha Hajare, Head Marketing, Lavasa Corporation Limited

The Smart Cities India 2015 expo was a vital window of opportunity for us to share
experiences, and explore possibilities for EU-India collaboration in the burgeoning
Indian market. The expo was the ideal platform to give European solution providers a
real taste of what India has to offer.

Smart Cities India 2015 expo provided us with a platform to interact with important
stakeholders such as representatives from the state governments of Maharashtra,
Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, urban development agencies and private investors.
Prakash Chandraker, MD & VP for Energy Business, Schneider Electric, India

Poul V. Jensen, Director, EBTC

Kudos to Exhibitions India Group for having put together a very effective first edition of
Smart Cities India that mirrored the current state of the smart cities opportunities in
the country. This event has all the elements of being the flagship conference/expo for
the smart cities movement in India.
Lux Rao, Country Leader, HP Future Cities & CTO Technology Services

It was great; we were present both as a pod and through several speaking slots. There
was good attendance from all relevant stakeholders interested in smart cities. We
must be there every year.
