National Collections Group is responsible for all aspects of the stewardship, management and
public enjoyment of the national collections of historic properties, artefacts and archives in EHs
care.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To document the English Heritage collections of museum objects in accordance with the
national collections documentation strategy.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Document the collections held in store and on display at Fort Brockhurst and elsewhere
in England. (including task planning, reconciliation of paper and computer records, entering
information on to computer from paper records, reconciling computer records with objects on
display and in store, photography, and liaising with curatorial and other staff).
2.
Undertake data cleaning and preparation of records for on-line public access. (including
producing reports, liaising with curators, updating records).
3.
Assist with current collections documentation tasks as required (for example, scanning
documents and photographs, creating Crystal Reports)
4.
Providing support, help and training to other MimsyXG users in English Heritage.
5.
Other tasks appropriate to the grade as directed by the Registrar and Head Curator
(collections)
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS
Need to be able to move freely around English Heritage sites including rough ground and stairs
and move objects by hand and with mechanical aids. Some travelling will be necessary including
some overnight stays.
SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS
Must have a checkable 10 year employment and/or education history.
