Information technology in health care has the potential to improve the quality

and reduce the cost of health care. Electronic health Record is the main
component of IT in medical care. EHR is an individual health record shared
among different agencies. Electronic health record is defined an as a set of
applications including a computerized patient record with a clinical data
repository and some clinical decision support capabilities (Kateryna Fonkych and
Roger Taylor, 2005).
The Effect Of Health Information Technology On Quality In U.S.
Hospitals By Jeffrey S. McCullough, Michelle Casey, Ira Moscovice, and
Shailendra Prasad
The researchers have concluded that the use of computerized physician order
entry and electronic health records resulted in significant improvements in two
quality measures, with larger effects in academic than nonacademic hospitals.
They have concluded that achieving substantive benefits from national
implementation of health IT may be a lengthy process. It was estimated in 2010
that clinical IT may yield savings of up to $142 billion annually (Hillestad R, et.
al,2005). A study has shown that health IT may improve clinical quality, partly
through the reduction of errors after its adoption (Kuperman G, Gibson R, 2003).
Researchers have identified relationships between process quality measures and
health IT systems through consultations with a wide range of experts, including
physicians, nurses, and other providers; administrators; and health informatics
practitioners and consultants.

Method used: Multiple Regression

They have used multivariate regression techniques to measure the effect of
health IT on each quality measure independently.

Study Limitations this study tells us of how health IT influences quality;

however, they do have important limitations. First, IT did not study all of health
ITs potential benefits. Second, It did not track important variations in the
individual hospitals health IT investments.

Impact of Information Technology on Service Quality of Health Care

Services
-by N.Rajagopal Associate Professor School of Business, Leadership and
Management (SBLM), Karunya University, Coimbatore, India
Researcher has analysed the relationship between HIT and quality of health care
services. Computer-based information and communication technologies continue
to transform the delivery of health care services. HIT is viewed as the most
promising tool for improving the overall quality, safety and efficiency of the
health delivery system (Chaudhry B. et.al.,2006). Many studies show that HIT is
essential for quality improvement in health (Balas et.al., 2000; Lobach and
Hammond, 1994). An important reason for governments interest in investing
electronic health delivery is to avail best medical expertise with low cost (Gupta,
2008). It was found that information technology has a positive impact on
productivity and has provided significant value for consumers (Hitt and
Brynjolfsson, 1996). Researcher has concluded that Health delivery system has
been considerably improved with the adaption of technology. It could help in
bringing precision in medical test and reduction in workload.
Method: Anova with Health Technology as dependent variable and Health
delivery, quality administration, accessibility to information, Precision and
reduction of work load as independent variables.
