I drew inspiration from modular furniture and case study houses

by Charles and Ray Eames. These architects experimented with prefab
and modular housing in the late forties. Trough laser cutting
specific connecting shapes within the seams, the garment can be
constructed in a different way.
These systems also became the main visual feature of the
collection. Attracted by the Meccano-toy, I constructed garment
from primary shapes. Circle, square and rectangles are dominant.
Some garments are assembled with only these shapes.
Meccano-collection also invites to play with the pieces,
by assembling them in a different way a new garment can be made.
The materials are thin industrial foam contrasted by more luxurious
felted wools and a cork leather substitute. These fabrications give
the result a very matte look which was contrasted with plastic and
metal keychain pieces.
The conceptual collection is contrasted with playful and detailed
accessories, sunglasses, oversized key chains, leather dry bags
and a heavy duty shoe.
The shoe is modular in its own right. A neoprene mesh sock clicks
into the complex sole.
The sunglasses were developed with THEO eyewear, they screw
together and lock the lenses in tight.

After prototyping the shapes in classic

toiles, they were scanned and drawn in
Autocad. Where all the connectionsystem
were drawn to be able to lasercut the
Patterns.

About ST RIP
- 3BA Collection
The installation Gunpowder City, 16 shot by Kaleb De Groot and
Roosje klap served as the main inspiration for the collection.
The inflatable sculpture contrasts the surrounding, it has a feeling
of temporality and spontaneity. I set out to combine spontaneity
and graphic stripes to form a collection of eight silhouettes.
creating an atmosphere of unforced ease. wrapping textiles around
the body to from garments. spontaneity can also be found in wide
coats falling of the shoulder exposing the chest. experimenting
with how much reference to garment we can remove, without losing
the definition.
A special focus went into the shoes, i developed a sneaker-like
boot to create tension with the cropped trousers. for this boot
I designed and developed my own soles, trough 3d-printing and
silicone mould reproduction.

About BAL MIKE EL EPHAN T M A S K

- Ethnical Costume
The Bamileke tribe lives in the North of Cameroon, they have
quite an arrange of traditional costumes.Many of the costumes
have animal references, honoring the qualities of that animal.
The Elephant mask is worn for many occasions, but mostly for
funerals to celebrate the deceaseds life.
This mask is a layered cotton embroidered with small glass beads.
The long strip of fabric represents the elephants trunk and the
discs are the animals ears.
The Bamileke wear the mask with a Tunic, with a distinct pattern
called ndop cloth. Ndop is a resist dying technique where the
whole pattern is tightly embroidered with raffia, then the whole
textile gets dyed with indigo. When the indigo has set,
the raffia is removed it reveals the natural colour of the cotton.

About WELCOME TO T HE PA R K
- 2BA Collection
Steven Spielbergs Jurassic Park was the main inspiration of the
2nd Bachelor collection. Drawn by the feeling of eminent danger
in a very orchestrated natural scene. I was triggered by the
manipulation of the wilderness into something synthetic and the
notion of developing nature into a commercial product.
This sense of lurking aggression inspired me to create a collection
that has a threatening atmosphere.
I combined large and heavy furs contrasting them with small kitsch
elements, balancing good and bad taste. Covering the face with
printed riot scarves juxtaposes the feminine metal wire heels,
which cause the models to move slowly and strangely.Playing with
anonymity and a distorted silhouette results in peculiar look
within an ominous and threatening atmosphere.
