Troubleshooting for MPEG 4 Channels:

VERIFY UA or Tracking number of the IRD
1. No Signal Refer Satellite info .
a) Check if the IRD is connected to the right satellite feed.
b) Check Tuning Parameters of the IRD.
c) Check Channel is correctly selected on the IRD.
2. Blank Screen
a) IRD not connected in the correct rack or position in the control room.
b) IRD may be faulty as no error or message is displayed.
3.

Needs authorization key

a) Check Channel number is correctly selected on the IRD. Refer Satellite info .
b) Check if the IRD is active/inactive in the system, If inactive contact Regional Operations.
c) For IRD showing active in the system, however still showing Needs authorization key
enter retrigger request in system.

4. Hardware issue
a) IRDs Damaged Wire Broken, Buttons not working -Replace IRD.

5. Software issue/Tuning issue

(HOW TO TUNE THE IRD) Refer Satellite info.

Please follow the procedure/actions as mentioned below

Step 1: Open the BOX and remove the IRD
Step 2: Connect Video cables (Yellow) to Video connector (Yellow)
Step 3: Connect the Audio (RCA) connector through either Red or white cable
Step 4: Power on the IRD

STEP 5: Press menu button main menu will appear-press (Down V 2 times)-press
select when setup menu is highlighted.

STEP 6: Press select again to go into Tuning/Preset menu

STEP 7: Press select on Modulation type and press (Left <or Right >) to change to DVB-S and
then press select to save

STEP 8: Press (Down V) and press select to change the downlink to 03.9000 using the (Left <,
Right > UP^ down V keys). Similarly do this for selecting the symbol rate to 22.2222

STEP 9: Press select and press (Down V) 9 times to get to SAVE option and then press select.
Message will show acquisition failed if satellite cable is not connected. Press select to continue
and reboot the box.
NOTE: Incase satellite cable IS 20 is connected signal will get locked and message will appear as
acquisition successful press select to continue and reboot the box.

6. Screen/output freezing
a) Check if IRD showing signal lock.
b) Try to align the dish.
c) Replace IRD if still problem continues.
Note: If freezing occurs during a particular time frame everyday, it may be caused due to local
territorial signal interference. Possible solutions mentioned below

Installing good quality LNB like NORSAT which has good filtration
Relocation of Dish Antenna
Proper grounding of Dish Antenna
TI filter can be installed which will not allow other signals to interfere

7. Audio Video sync issues

a) Check IRD signal and quality.
b) Try replacing the audio/Video Cable connected on the IRD.
c) Send retrigger request.
d) Replace IRD if still problem continues.
e) Ensure that you are using MPEG4 compatible IRD (IRD Model and Compression
Details)

Troubleshooting for MPEG 2 Channels:

VERIFY UA or Tracking number of the IRD
1. No Signal
a) Check if the IRD is connected to the right Satellite and the parameters are all correct
(Refer Satellite info .)

b) If IRD not tuned send IRD to repair center CNET Delhi for Tuning.
c) Check Channel is correctly selected on the IRD.

2. Blank Screen
a) Issue occurs if IRD not connected in the correct rack or position in the control room.
b) IRD may be faulty as no error or message is displayed.

Home Cast IRDs TV Today

Model: EM161IR, TVEM-150IR and TVEM-190IR

VERIFY UA or Tracking number of the IRD

Error Messages displayed
1) E04 please insert smart card
a) The smartcard is not present. This error is seen only on Scrambled/encrypted/paid channel(s)
b) Check VC card is inserted properly

2) E16/17/30 Service is currently scrambled/No permission to view this channel

a) The Service/Channel may not be authorised for that smartcard
b) Please send retrigger request in the system
c) Replace VC if not resolved after retrigger is done

IRD TUNING ERROR MESSAGES

1) No Signal (E48)
a) This error is seen when the input RF signal to the STB is lost
b) Please check dish connection

2) Searching for signal (E52)

a) If, after 30 seconds, a signal has not been found, the Searching for Signal message will come
up as the IRD cycles through transport streams in its database, attempting to establish a lock-on.
b) Please refer IRD tuning procedure

TVT IRD Tuning procedure

Connect the Video output of the Decoder box to the Television

Step 1: Press Menu button from remote

See the Monitor for the below mentioned:

Auto Scan
Manual Scan
Transponder Edit
Step 2: Go to Manual Scan then Press OK button from remote.
Step 3: Enter Password 0000 and then press OK button.
Step 4: You will see the below:

<>Means Press Left/Right button in remote to go to the satellite list and then press OK for
particular satellite as well as do the same for other changes accordingly.
Signal Strength ************************************* xx%
Signal Quality *************************************xx %
Better the signal strength better the signal quality.

Step 6: After putting the parameters press OK button from remote to start scanning the signal and
you can see the Strength and Quality of the signal in digits i.e. signal will start from 0% to 100%. The
box will Scan & Store all the TVTN Channels.
Step 7: Select YES on Do you want to save changes? and press ok
Step 8: Press EXIT multiple times to get the Audio & Video. (EXIT is the key right above the key 2)
