Melrose Park Public School is located in the northwestern suburbs of Sydney,

approximately 30 kilometres from the CBD. The current enrolments of
approximately 200 students are educated in a supportive, nurturing

(Melrose Park Public School, 2016), with staffing comprising of 1 Principal, 14

develop innovative quality teaching and learning programs, (MPPS, 2016).
This is achieved in the comprehensive curriculum program in the following

listening, handwriting and digital technologies, grammar, punctuation and

this remaining a school priority. This commitment also extends to 21 st Century

Melrose Park has strong ties with its history and community relations, and has
a strong family presence. Opening as a school in 1945 with 47 students and 2
classrooms, Melrose Park is set in park like grounds. Special programs
include Kitchen Garden and Seed, Harvest, Spoon. The extensive Kitchen
Garden continues to grow and all students participate in the management of
growing, harvesting and selling the produce.
Melrose Park P.S. and the active parent body are currently preparing to hold
the annual Fete and Market Day. The Parents and Citizens Group within the
school regularly assists with fundraising activities, parent helpers within the
classroom, sporting events and school reviews. This combines with a strong
community presence with the school facilities used by the Korean Church,
dance studio and yoga groups. Community Partnerships include Eli Lily who
supports the school through the Day of Service, recently painting a mural on
the stage 3-classroom wall. Australian Business Council Network (ABCN) who
provide volunteers to tutor students in reading and mathematics. Pfizer who
provide funding for Sausage Sizzle and the Seed, Harvest, Spoon program.

All students have the opportunity to participate in the Student Voice

programme. All students from Kindergarten are given a Buddy to help
support transition activities and a Learning Buddy to support class activities.
K-6 students form groups in which to participate in Enrichment Days and
Cross Curricula activities. This emphasises the close relationship the school
community holds with its family members.
