On Tuesday, November 8, 2016, I taught 24 little learners who were at the foundational stage
of KG2 a scientific lesson of animals needs. The learners were of Sama American Private
School which is located in Sharjah city, the UAE. I had a lesson plan that I made and checked
deeply before beginning to give the actual lesson to the learners. My monitor school teacher
(MST), Ms. Olga Hattab, knew about all the actions that I would do when giving the lesson to
the students before the day of Tuesday which means that she knew about my plans on Monday,
November 7, 2016. I contacted with her deeply on the phone (via WhatsApp) to make sure that
my plans were accepted and appropriate to be given to little learners that were at the age of five
years old. Ms. Olga Hattab observed me during the whole class (from its beginning until its
ending). Ms. Olga Hattab and her assistance, Ms. Riya, helped me in the part of giving materials
of differentiated activities to the pupils which made me so happy.
For sure, the lesson of animals needs was delivered successfully to the 24 little pupils where
the participations, responses, questions, answers, and completed jobs (the activities) of the
learners allowed me to know so. The plan that I designed by myself enabled my lesson to be
delivered successfully due to its strong hold of all the parts of the lesson where it made all the
lessons parts worthy things to keep eyes on and include. I had a discussion with the students
about four pictures of four different animals to engage them within the lesson. I had the students
observing, exploring, and explaining their questions and found answers. I also had differentiated
activities that allowed the students to learn and extend their prior and gained knowledge more.
My lesson plan depended mainly on the 5E instructional model that is considered to be always
included in lessons parts due to its contributions in producing complete and interesting or
exciting lessons (5Es Overview: The 5E instructional model, n.d.). The five stages of the 5E
instructional model are: engage, explore, explain, elaborate or extend, and evaluate. As it was
mentioned, to engage students, a discussion was made. The discussion was about animals and
their actions. Pictures of four animals were shown to students. The students needed to tell each
other about the animals that were in the shown pictures and their actions (drinking water, eating
food, breathing air, and are sat in shelters (homes). Questions were asked about if all animals
could survive without water, food, air, and shelter. Students needed to explore that by imagining
it, thinking of it, and remembering experiences of that. They explained their answers of the asked
questions, and they did give correct answers (that animals would die if they did not get water,
food, air, and shelters). It was understood that all animals (living things) have needed water,
food, air, and shelter to survive. Students knowledge of animals needs was extended by a
musical video (a song) about animals needs. In addition, students knowledge of animals needs
was extended by three differentiated activities, and the three differentiated activities helped also
in evaluating students understanding of the given lesson. The activities did not only show that if
students understood the actual lesson, but it also allowed students to practice and use their gained
knowledge. My MST and all the 24 students were engaged strongly and wonderfully within the
lesson. The objectives of the lesson were all achieved successfully where the pupils could
identify that all animals need several things to survive and could recognize animals needs
(water, food, air, and shelter). My teaching way and ideas were loved by my MST and all the

students where they all praised me in a very remarkable way. My monitor school teacher told me
that everything was remarkable and that I had a nice teaching style and wonderful ideas, while
the pupils told me that they loved me when I was teaching them and that they enjoyed the
activities a lot. Many students said to me that they loved me before starting to give the lesson
(when they knew that I would teach them a lesson, they all saw me, smiled to me, and said yes).
The 25 pupils told me how they loved the whole lesson with its smallest parts including the
amazing activities. I was absolutely happy to hear all the wonderful words of all the little
learners and the MST. My MST gave me excellent in all the areas of planning for learning,
managing learning, implementing learning, and assessment. If I teach the lesson again, I will use
the same lesson plan and materials because they allowed me to give an exciting and lovely
lesson, and I will not change any part of it due to not facing any problems while giving the lesson
to learners. Nothing could make me disappointed and feel lost which means that I was glad and
satisfied about my entire lesson and class. I could make a success in the second scientific lesson
of me in my whole life!
I have reflected about my teaching way and lesson in the above paragraph. The overall feeling
that I had about my teaching and lesson was totally satisfying.
