ABSTRACT:

This project deals with the design of small scale wind powered - electricity
generating system providing regulated AC electric power from wind energy to a
residential purposes, has a wind turbine that produces less than 500W of peak
electric power in permanent magnet generator (PMG) that produces generator
power with a frequencies that varies with a wind speed. The wind turbine utilize a
cross wind - type rotor having a power coefficient that varies with the operating tip
speed ratio and has an optimal tip speed ratio where the power coefficient is
maximum. The permanent magnet generator is connected with shaft consists of
wind turbine blades. In our project we use HAWT model (HORIZONTAL AXIS
WIND TURBINE) & it is commonly used turbine model for power generation
from wind. A HAWT needs to face into wind, so they use a tail to keep them
pointed in the right direction. If there is a change in wind direction, they need to
turn to face the wind. Wind energy is not a constant source of energy. It varies
continuously & gives energy in sudden bursts. About 50% of the entire energy is
given out in just 15% of the operating time. Wind strengths varies & thus cannot
be guarantee for continuous power for this problem PMG output is given to the
charger controller circuit and this output is given to the battery for make this
system as a standalone system & form battery we utilize the generated electric
power for various devices via MOSFET based sine wave inverter circuit.
