Strategies Planned
Students use hands-on experiences when they conduct the Bird Beak Investigation and the
Pumpkin and Squash Investigation.
Students investigate a mystery crime scene through hands-on experiences and
demonstration.
Students will go through the writing process to practice their writing skills.
Students participate in active learning during each lesson to explore and learn new
information.
Games during the guided reading lesson allow students to practice what they know in a
hands-on way.
Multiple Intelligences fostered
Body/Kinesthetic The students will conduct hands-on experiences in the science,
writing, and math lessons.

SF Interpersonal 35%
Strategies Planned
Students will work in groups during each lesson to learn and collaborate with one another.
The students will discuss their ideas and work in stations as a team.
Each student will receive individualized attention during the writing conferences with the
teacher.
The students will use personal expression through creating different voices for their
characters in their writing piece.
Students get to role play as scientists through the science lessons and the writing lesson.
Multiple Intelligences fostered
Musical/Rhythmic For classroom management, the teacher uses chants and rhythms to
get the classs attention.
Interpersonal Students will work in groups to collaborate. During each lesson, there will
be a class discussion where all students will be encouraged to participate.

NT - Understanding 20%
Strategies Planned
Students will problem solve through collecting, organizing, and evaluating data. This will
occur in each lesson.
All of the lessons in the unit are related and support the big idea of growing to succeed.
The students can study this idea and how each lesson is related and connects.
The read aloud during the writing lesson will foster students reading interests.
The students will be given time to complete their writing piece.
During the guided reading lesson, the students have the opportunity to read silently and
discuss useful reading strategies.

Multiple Intelligences fostered


Intrapersonal The students will record their individual ideas in their pumpkin
investigation journals. They will also have the opportunity to silent read during a guided
reading station. Furthermore, the students have individual writing time to create their own
writing piece.
Verbal/Linguistic Class discussions are present in each lesson. The students will have
the opportunity to explain what they think about each lesson topic.

NF Self-expressive 10%
Strategies Planned
During the writing lesson, the read aloud book deals with different fairytales and myths.
Students will learn through discovering in creative and unique ways.
Students will create a hypothesis throughout both science lessons and the math lesson.
Students will use their imagination to create their writing pieces.
Multiple Intelligences fostered
Logical/Mathematical The students will create hypotheses and conduct discovery
experiments. The students will also perform multiple measurements during the math lesson
and stations.
Visual/Spatial The students will draw pictures of the insides and outsides of the
pumpkin and the squash. The students will also have the opportunity to watch a YouTube
video during the guided reading lesson.
Naturalist The students will study real plants that have grown in the outside
environment. Furthermore, students will learn about different bird beaks and how beaks are
influenced by environment.
