Please accept this letter of recommendation for Pamela McCallum. I have known Pam for approximately two years; we met when she applied, and was a successful candidate, for one of 10 student mentor positions I manage. Pam was an outstanding applicant and she interviewed for her position with confidence and absolute passion for working with incoming students and supporting them through the transition from high school to first-year university student. Her leadership skills were demonstrated early and often while she was a member of the student mentor team. From her first email interaction with our incoming students, it was clear that Pam is a natural and gifted leader. She has the confidence in her own ability to seek out information and share information in a way that is both supportive and encouraging. Working with this population, Pam faced many questions which could be considered silly or unimportant to a senior-level university student, but she never once made a first-year student feel as though their question wasnt the most important question she had encountered. Her ability to ensure that student needs and student support were at the center of her responses was motivating to me as her supervisor. Pamela became a leader among the mentor team with many of her team seeking out her advice and knowledge when seeking answers for their own group of incoming students. Pam never hesitated to offer her time and abilities to her fellow mentors or to the Enrolment team. I have great respect for Pam as an individual and as a young professional and I am confident that she is deserving of this award. In addition to having firsthand knowledge of Pams work ethic and abilities, I am also familiar with her education and career goals to be an educator and I know just how much receiving this award means to Pam. She is humble in her willingness to receive accolades but she is absolutely deserving to be recognized for her natural ability and passion for leadership. I am confident that you will be just as impressed with Pam as I am, and I urge you to consider her for this award. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide any additional information.
