CHAPTER 3

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
In this chapter discuss the technicality of the project and by which it describes the type of
project to be developed and its functionality. It also represents the type of application
development of the project.
Technicality of the Project
The current generation of reports used by the librarian and staff at the library of
Jose Rizal Memorial State University-Katipunan Campus are Microsoft word 2007 and
Microsoft Excel 2007. Their method is traditional for getting the daily users of the
library. They are still adopting the manual encoding of reports.
The Enhancement of Library Login/Logout System will be designed through the
use of visual basic 6.0 and uses Active X Data Objects (ADO) a programming interface
to access data in a database. It will also use SQL or Structured Query Language a
standard language that is used to access, manipulate and retrieve data from relational
databases.

Details of the technologies to be used

The technologies to be used in designing and developing the library login/logout
system are the following:

1. Crystal Reports is a report generation program that use by the researchers

to generate the users report such as monthly user report, weekly user report
and daily user report.
2. MySQL Connector 5.1 is a driver previously called MyODBC drivers use
by the researchers to access to MySQL database using the industry standard
Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) API and use to store procedures,
transactions, and with Connector 5.1 and higher, full unicode compliance.
3. Platform It can run on desktop and laptop computers with windows based
operating system like windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.
4. VB.Net is a programming language use by the researchers in enhancing the
existing library login/logout system of JRMSU-KC that allows programmers
to add a substantial amount of code simply by dragging and dropping controls,
such as buttons and dialog boxes, and then defining their appearance and
behavior.
5. Personal Computer (PC) a computer that is created to be utilized by one
person at a time.
6. SQL will be used as a programming language for developing the database.
