martialartstoincludeMuayThai,Indonesiansilat,andFrenchsavate,alongwithasmallerdoseofmanyothertraditionalarts.Inthe
lateeighties,afterfightinginseveraleskrimatournaments,Ibeganstickfightingwithagroupofguysinamuchmoreextreme
manner.WelaterbecameknownastheoriginalDogBrothers.Theseintensefightingexperiencesstartedtoopenmyeyestothe
realityofactualcombat.
IstartedBJJintheearlynineties,butitwasntuntil1994thatmyentiretrainingworldwasturnedupsidedown.ThatistheyearthatI
metandstartedtrainingwithEganInoueinHawaii.Sinceourinitialmeeting,EganhasbecomeaworldchampioninBJJandMMA.
WithEgan,everythingwasaboutcombativedrillingandsparring.Asanathlete,Eganknewthatwecannotgointoacompetition

onmymind.MygoalinJKDUnlimitedisnottotakeexceptionalathletesandturnthemintochampions,buttohelpnormalpeople
whowanttodevelopfunctionalstreetselfdefenseskills.Ialsonoticedthattherearemanyunsavoryindividualsfightingandtraining
inMMAtoday,whichmeansthatamoderndayattackermaybeawellroundedfighter.Thispromptedmetoprioritizetrainingand
teachingforselfdefense,butinamannerthathasnotbeenexploitedbefore.Mydiversebackgroundhasallowedmetodevelopa
uniquemethodtohelpthegoodguymartialartistbeatarogueMMAfighterinastreetaltercation.Hereareafewoftheprinciples.
