VISITORS LAND ON CARRADALE

BEACH
A bunch of flying enthusiasts dropped
in on Carradale Bay on Sunday, three
micro-lights and two fixed wing micro
planes touched down on the beach
and taxied over to the carpark end for
a break. Brewing up a cuppa they
chatted to the locals and visitors whom
had a good look over the aircraft and
equipment had come over from the Isle
of Arran having stayed there overnight
meeting up with a friend.
They said the beach was a
magnificent place and they would hope
to return at a later date with making
arrangements for landing again. I as
usual had my camera on hand and
was invited up for a flight in the blue
and white Zenair aircraft by pilot Joe
(and thanks Joe for the experience)
and got some aerial pics of the area,
one shown of us just taking of with the
caravan park below. After packing up
the aircraft took off one by one and did
a fly past en route to their next
destination Ettrick Bay on Bute. First
pic is the pilots with their Arran friend
in the black tea-shirt.

THE OBAN CONCERN FOR PALESTINE GROUP

GAZA PETITION
The Oban Concern for Palestine Group took to the streets on Saturday for a vigil and petition on
behalf of the people of Gaza. In little over an hour at The Clock Tower Station Square Oban they
collected more than 200 signatures. These included not just people from Oban but from other
countries as well. One particularly memorable signature was provided by a lady who recently
celebrated her 101st birthday! The Petition called for an end to the blockade of Gaza which has
now lasted for more than three years.
Further, after the breaches of International Law a few days earlier which had led to the deaths
of nine people involved in trying to get aid and vital supplies into Gaza, the petition also demanded
an independent and international investigation into the incident.
The mercy mission totaled almost 700 people from about 30 countries one of them being an
89 year old survivor of the holocaust.
The Oban petition is now being forwarded to The Foreign Secretary. Further information from
