There are five physical divisions in Pakistan.

The Himalayas, is the highest mountain range in

Pakistan and it hassome of the highest mountains of the world as well as the tallest peaks in
Pakistan. In the list of highest mountains of Pakistan K2 is on the top, other top mountains of
Pakistan are enlisted below according to height in meters.
K2 Picture

K2 Mountain is located in the Karakorum Range and it is the highest mountain of Pakistan. This
is Pakistans first and the worlds second highest peak. It reaches 28250 ft (8,611
meters), and lies partly in china and partly in the Pakistani-administered region of Kashmir. In
1954 the Italians Achille Comagnoni and Line Lacedell become the first climbers to reach its
summit. The glacier and snow-covered mountain rises from its base at about 15000 ft on the
Godwin Austen Glacier, a tributary of the Baltoro Glacier. The first woman who reached the
summit was Wanda Rutkiewicz of Poland, in 1986.
Nanga Parbat Picture

Nanga Parbat is 8,126 meters high and is one of the most challenging mountains in the world
to climb. Commonly known as the killer mountain, Nanga Parbat is second tallest in Pakistan
and 9th highest peak in the world. Situated in the Himalayan Range, Nanga Parbat means naked
mountain. Though associated with tragedies, it is not true that the mountain has not been scaled.
Many mountaineers lost their life on their way to the summit at Nanga Parbat. It was in 1953
that the Nanga Parbat was conquered by Herman Buhl.
Gasherbrum I Photo

Gasherbrum is a remote group of high peaks in the karakoram, located at the northeast end of
the 36-mile Baltoro. There are six Gasherbrum peaks. Gasherbrum is the 11th highest peak in
the world and is the 3rd highest peak in Pakistan with a height of 8080 meters. It is also known
as K5 and Hidden Peak. It is also one of those peaks with least deaths, but this peak is only
tried by experienced mountainers.
Broad Peak Picture

Broad Peak, the 12th highest mountain in the world at 8051 meters, is located in the
Karakoram Range in Northeastern Pakistan. From the first ascent in 1957 to August 2003,
Broad Peak was climbed 225 times and had 18 deaths. If the snow continue to melt due to
global warming, Broad Peak central would certainly qualify as the 15th 8000 meters peak.
Another issue connected to global warming is the fact that the snow on the true summit is the
melting and four summits may overtake it in height.
Gasherbrum II Picture

Gasherbrum II is the 5th highest peak of Pakistan, and the thirteenth highest peak in the world.
It is generally considered one of the easiest 8000 meters peaks in the world, but the ascent of
this peak should not be taken too easy. It was first climbed on July 8, 1956 by Fritz Moravec,
Josef Larch and Hans Willen part of an Austrian expedition. Its total estimated hight is 8035
meters.
Gasherbrum III Photos

Gasherbrum III is located far away into the wilderness and for this reason, it only has
been climbed twice. Even if the peak is one of the highest in the world at 7952 meters usually
ranked as number 15th, very few climbers have it as a goal. It was for a long time the highest
unclimbed peak in the world. The slightly higher Gasherbrums 1 and-2 are 8000ers, and
Gasherbrum-3 is much more impressive than its closest neighbours. It is situated between
Gasherbrum II and IV in a sub-range of the Karakoram.
Gasherbrum IV Picture

Gasherbrum: It is the 17th highest mountain on the Earth and the 7th highest in Pakistan. The
peak is 7925 meters high and it is an extremely technical climb. Its sheer rock faces are
relentless and the regional weather of Gasherbrum 4 is very unstable. The first ascent was made
in 1958 by strong Italian team led by legendary climber Riccardo Cassin.
Distaghil Sar Photos

Distaghil Sar is the 8th highest mountain in pakistan with the height of 7885 meters. It is
located in a remote icy wilderness in the northern reaches of Pakistan (Karakoram ranges). Its
first successful climber was G. starker (1960). Its high glacier-clad summit ridge is topped with
three sharp peaks. The eastern summit was first climbed in 1980 by a polish expedition over the
east face, and was reascended in 1983.
Kunyang Chhish Picture

Kunyang Chhish: At 7852 meters high, Kunyang Chhish is the 21st highest mountain in the
world, and is the 9th highest mountain in Pakistan. The first ascent of Kunuang Chhish occurred
in 1971 by Zawadas Polish Expedition (Main Peak). Kunyang Chhish Main is also the second
highest peak in the Hispar Muztagh. Kunuang Chhish east is difficult to climb from all
directions.
Masherbrum Pictures

Masherbrum: It is located in the Gilgit Baltistan of Pakistan and it is also known as K1.
Masherbrum is the 22nd highest mountain in the world and 10th highest in Pakistan with a
prominence of 7821 meters. It was first reconnoitred in 1856 by Thomas Montgomerie who
denoted the mountain as K1 however this name is rarely used in modern days. It is also one of
the hardest mountains to climb.
