With deepest gratitude and appreciation, we humbly give thanks to the people who, with
all they can, helped us in making our product, macaroons, a mouthwatering one.
To our parents for their unconditional love and support, for providing all our needs
financially and morally, for their patience when we cant help them in the chores and when we
went home very late at night, to Mr. and Mrs. Juancho Lao and Mrs. Adelfa Q. Manalon for their
never failing support and for being there no matter what.
To our brothers and sisters who keep on inspiring and encouraging us to always do our
bests that we can, and for motivating us to study harder for us to have a better future.
To our friends, classmates and most especially our group mates, for the happiness, for
being there to support and comfort us whenever we have difficulties and for the cooperation
during preparation of the output whom we can share our laughter and sorrows with especially
those sleepless nights.
To our very own course instructor Ms. Rannie Veril and all other faculty members of our
beloved Department of Business Management, we thank you for giving us the chance to
experience having a small business.
Above all to our Almighty God, for His unconditional love and for all the blessings He
has given us each and every day of our lives. With love and gratitude, we thank him for guiding
us during our product and business implementation output preparation. For the strength and
wisdom he has bestowed upon us, for giving us good health, knowledge and ability to perform
each task that was assigned to us. By His grace, we were able to finish making our products and
we were able to participate the SABS trade fair successfully.

Marketing Strategies and Programs Implemented
Market Segmentation
6 | Page

For our products we are proposing the following market segmentation strategies:
For geographic segment, our booth was placed in the VSU Market which is best for
our target markets. In demographic segment, our customers tend to be all ages of both genders

A macaroons is a type of light, baked confection, described as either small cakes or
meringue-like cookies depending on their consistency. The original macaroon was a small sweet
cake consisting largely of ground almonds similar to Italian amaretti. Coconut Macaroons are
chewy cookie like sweet that makes use of sweet shredded coconut.

Pricing Programs
Pricing is one of the classic 4 Ps of marketing (product, price, place, promotion).
Its one of the key elements of every strategy. Macaroons pricing scheme is designed to be
competitive and at the same time provide owners with a fair margin. We intend our income
structure to match our cost structure, so as to ensure that the fees we pay to assure good reports
and service are balanced by the fee we charge. All in all we intend our prices to be extremely
competitive on the market. Market penetration through lower prices shall be undertaken where
need be whilst premium pricing in the case of high quality services targeted at the upper-end of
the market.

Placement and Distribution

Figure 2. Macaroons VSU Market booth

The product, macaroons, will be distributed throughout the VSU Campus. The
Macaroons booth is located on the first booth left side VSU Market which is perfect place to
have lots of customers. Excess of the demand will be distributed to the nearby barangays and
home-based production hub. The said geographic market is chosen as it is in proximity to the
production site. The product will be sold at the booth which is located at VSU Market.
Promotions and Advertising
Our promotion strategy will be based primarily on informing potential customers of our
existence and making the right information available to our target customer. In all cases the
marketing will convey the sense of quality and professionalism in every picture, every promotion
and every publication. In such a market we cannot afford to appear in or produce second-rate

material with poor labels that make our services look less than they are. Hence we intend to
leverage our presence using quality flyers and tarpaulin. We intend to spread the word about our
business through the following:

b. Tarpaulin

Figure 4. Macaroons tarpaulin

We offer promos all the way to our customers satisfaction. Smooth in every bit and it has
balanced taste that the customers will feel satisfied. It is worth our customers money.
As one of our advertising tactics, we will market the prodct through word-of-mouth
because of the limited capilal. We will offer our product to by passers, employers, students and
some other tourists around the area and through E-marketing we will use the social networking
site such as facebook to sale and promote our product.

Strategic Location
17 | P a g e

Being in the right location is a key ingredient in a business's success. If a company selects
the wrong location, it may have adequate access to customers, workers, transportation, materials,
and so on. Consequently, location often plays a significant role in a company's profit and overall
success. A location strategy is a plan for obtaining the optimal location for a company by
identifying company needs and objectives, and searching for locations with offerings that are
compatible with these needs and objectives. Generally, this means the firm will attempt to
maximize

opportunity

while

minimizing

costs

and

risks.

We choose to sell our quality and fresh food products inside and outside of VSU campus.

Preheat oven to 350F and lined mini muffin pans with 1oz. cupcake liners. Whisk the
eggs until light and frothy. Add the sugar and melted butter, then whisk until sugar is completely
dissolved. Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, then whisk until well blended.
I put 2 tablespoons of water in the milk can to get the remaining milk at the bottom, I dont want
to waste it and then I add to the mixture but this is optional. Mix well until smooth and the water
is well blended.
Bake macaroons for at least 10-15 minutes or until lightly brown on the top. I use the
middle rack, to avoid macaroons from burning the top part. Fire off, and transfer in a cooling
rack to cool completely before packing and storing.

Waste Management
Waste management is properly observed during the production time as well as the
marketing time. At the marketing place we personally provided a garbage can to ensure that the
wastes are properly disposed. Garbage cans will be collected by a sanitary truck every morning.

CHAPTER IV: ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT ASPECT

Type of Ownership
A small business is a sole proprietorship, partnership or company not listed in the
bourses. Usually owned by one individual, family or closed group of individuals. Having limited
number of employees on the roll; either doing trading, manufacturing or rendering services
within a local market or extended local markets controlled from a central location managed from
own funds, and, which cannot be leveraged for a buyout.
The type of ownership that our business belongs is partnership. A partnership is an
arrangement in which two or more individuals share the profits and liabilities of a business
venture. Various arrangements are possible: all partners might share liabilities and profits
equally, or some partners may have limited liability. Not every partner is necessarily involved in

21 | P a g e

the management and day-to-day operations of the venture. In some jurisdictions, partnerships
enjoy favourable tax treatment relative to corporations.

Organizational Structure & Chart

Functions & Responsibilities

A manager title in the workplace can cover a realm of duties, most of them supervisory in
nature. In larger corporations, you may find tiers of management levels, each with specific
duties. But in a small business, the manager is often a jack-of-all-trades. Though he may oversee
aspects of the business, his responsibilities may be hands-on as well.

Staffing
Managers are responsible for staffing the business. In a small business, this includes

creating job descriptions, running advertisements for open positions, reviewing resumes and
applications, interviewing prospective employees, hiring and firing. The manager oversees his
staff, ensuring they are trained properly, follow company guidelines and policies, perform the job
satisfactorily and receive feedback on a regular basis. Depending on the size of the company, the
22 | P a g e

manager may also be responsible for the payroll function including tallying work hours,
calculating pay, processing checks and tracking vacation days and other time off.

Communication
Communication may be one of the most important responsibilities of a manager to keep

the workplace running efficiently. Employees need to know the mission and goals of the business
and what is expected of them to achieve those results. Managers must have the ability to
comprehend directives from upper management and to then translate them to staff so that
everyone is on the same page. A manager's communication responsibilities may also entail
resolving conflicts, motivating employees, speaking to the public on behalf of the company and
preserving customer relationships.

Training
Managers need to ensure that direct reports are properly trained in job duties. Each of a

manager's employees should be scheduled for an initial orientation and for any subsequent
training required to perform his job. He must evaluate the employee's progress on a regular basis
and determine whether additional training is needed. It is also the responsibility of the manager
to note employees who are candidates for promotions or advanced positions within the company.
He should work with each employee to create career goals and plans to attain them. Managers
must also make the decision to terminate an employee unable to satisfactorily perform his job or
who blatantly breaks company rules.

Business Growth
A manager's prime responsibility is to the success of the company. His actions should all

be poised toward business growth. Companies hire managers to run daily operations, coach
employees, maintain quality control and ensure that its products and services are fulfilling
customer needs. Managers must constantly review the company's financial, budgetary and
production goals. If the company is falling short of its goals, it is up to the manager to make the
necessary adjustments to get back on track. A manager's duty is to lead the organization to
success.
Functions and responsibilities of employees

Technical Expert
Employees and business partners may have the role of technical expert. They must be

able to perform the work properly. This means that they play the role of individuals with all the
requisite skills and competencies to undertake their various tasks. In the role of technical expert,

23 | P a g e

both employees and business partners incur several responsibilities, such as ensuring that they
perform according to mission, goals, objectives and expectations of the organization.

Team Playing
Employees and business partners work in a team. As such they have the responsibility of

contributing to the success of the team. Employees and business partners fulfill this
responsibility by attending meetings, contributing to decision making and problem solving, and
participating in organizational projects. Additionally, through task delegation, business partners
and employees are able to accomplish more tasks effectively and within a shorter period of time.

Managing
Employees and business partners in their different levels are responsible for managing

one or more business aspects. In their various roles, employees have the responsibility to manage
those processes that they are assigned to. For example, employees working in the financial
department are responsible for managing the financials of the company. Business partners are
responsible for managing the decision making processes and overseeing business operations for
the best interest of the business.

Development
Both employees and business partners have the role of business developers. This means

that they have the responsibility of growing the organization, especially in terms of profitability.
The main objective or bottom line of business is to make profits. Additionally, employees and
partners are the greatest assets that make a business profitable. When employees and partners
neglect their roles and responsibility, then the profitability of a business is substantially
threatened.
Personnel Requirements & Compensation
The employee must be at least high school graduate, knows how to bake and can work
with minimal supervision. All applicants have to undergo interviews with the owners. The preemployment requirements for new employees are selected from an applicant on the basis of their
qualifications. Criteria for selection would depend upon their skills educational attainment,
physical/mental capabilities, experiences and moral character selected applicants for employment
are required to undergo physical and medical examination.
The employees will be receiving a wage of PhP 3,000 a month; the number of working
hour per day is eight. Employees will receive benefits such as Philhealth. They will also be
entitled to take one rest day in a week. To ensure that they will be available throughout the year,
Memorandum of agreement will be sign the owners and employees regarding the period and
commitment towards work.
24 | P a g e

Organizational Policies
Organizational policies are methods of action selected, usually by an organization from
among alternatives to guide and determine present and future decisions and positions on public
matters. Some organization policies are: Compensation policies, Employment status policies and
the international hiring policies.
Company policies protect employee rights and employer interests. Company policies and
procedures establish the rules of conduct within an organization, outlining the responsibilities of
both employees and employers. Company policies and procedures are in place to protect the
rights of workers as well as the business interests of employers. Depending on the needs of the
organization, various policies and procedures establish rules regarding employee conduct,
attendance, dress code, privacy and other areas related to the terms and conditions of
employment.

Employee Conduct
An employee conduct policy establishes the duties and responsibilities each employee

must adhere to as a condition of employment. Conduct policies are in place as a guideline for
appropriate employee behavior, and they outline things such as proper dress code, workplace
safety procedures, harassment policies and policies regarding computer and Internet usage. Such
policies also outline the procedures employers may utilize to discipline inappropriate behavior,
including warnings or employee termination.

Equal Opportunity
Equal opportunity laws are rules that promote fair treatment in the workplace. Most

organizations implement equal opportunity policies -- anti-discrimination and affirmative action

policies, for example -- to encourage unprejudiced behavior within the workplace. These policies
discourage inappropriate behavior from employees, supervisors and independent contractors in
regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation or religious and cultural beliefs of another person.

Attendance and Time Off

Attendance policies set rules and guidelines surrounding employee adherence to work

schedules. Attendance policies define how employees may schedule time off or notify superiors
of an absence or late arrival. This policy also sets forth the consequences for failing to adhere to
a schedule. For example, employers may allow only a certain number of absences within a
specified time frame. The attendance policy discusses the disciplinary action employees face if
they miss more days than the company allows.

Substance Abuse

25 | P a g e

Many companies have substance abuse policies that prohibit the use of drugs, alcohol and
tobacco products during work hours, on company property or during company functions. These
policies often outline smoking procedures employees must follow if allowed to smoke on
business premises. Substance abuse policies also discuss the testing procedures for suspected
drug and alcohol abuse.
Legal Requirements
In conformity with the mandated law, the business shall comply with the mandated
requirements prior to the operation of the business. Partnerships are registered to the Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC). A barangay clearance must be secured to be able to operate
the business. Business permit is also required to be processed at the municipality or city hall
office. It is required to apply for a business taxpayer identification number at the Bureau of
Internal Revenue (BIR). At this point, a business operation may legally start.

Financial Objectives & Targets
Financial objectives act as a focus for decision making and effort; provide a yardstick
against which success or failure can be measured. It also improves coordination and efficiency.
Financial objectives enables outside organizations (suppliers and customers), to confirm the
financial viability of a business. The following are our companys objectives and targets:

CHAPTER VI: FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS

Findings, Learning and Experiences
The said activity was never easy for us because we have faced the good and bad side of
operating a small business, but we accepted it as a challenge that will help us in the near future.
In planning for the perfect product we conducted a group meeting. All members were
obliged to give ideas and chose the best product that will surely have an impact on the potential
buyers that will make them to buy one. It takes time in thinking and deciding for the best product
with the cooperation of everyone we were able to choose the right one which is Macaroons, and
we never regretted the product we have chosen because the customers liked and loved it.
In marketing our product, the 4Ps was observed. For the product we made sure that we
baked chewy cookie like sweet. For the pricing, we intended to offer reasonable and competitive
price. For the Placement and distribution, the booth is located on the first booth left side VSU
Market which is perfect place to have lots of customers; we also made the booth look attracting.
27 | P a g e

For the promotion and advertising strategy it was based primarily on informing potential
customers of our existence and making the right information available to our target customer. We
offered promos to our customers satisfaction. One of our advertising tactics was through wordof-mouth, social networking site such as facebook to sale and promote our product. We also gave
flyers to by-passers and students. The marketing mixes as well as the teamwork were very
helpful in marketing the products at minimal period.
Customers are the most important people for any organization and they are the foundation
of any business' success. One of the primary goals of any marketing strategy should be to
identify and meet the needs of the consumer. Considering customer importance at all stages of
the marketing process helps your company to ensure greater customer satisfaction and increase
its long-term goal of repeat business. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of the selling process.
One estimate is that it costs five times as much to attract new customers as it does to keep an
existing one. The relationship between the customer and the organization is, therefore, an
important one.
Assigning task or the so called division of labor was very needed to finish the work on
time and minimize costs.
Our group somehow applied some of the basic management concepts that helped the
group accomplish the goals in an effective and efficient manner through planning, organizing,
leading and controlling organizational goals.
Conclusions
Therefore we conclude that, starting a small business is complex, time-consuming and
life-altering. There are many more things that go into running it than just providing the
product(s) or service(s) that your business offers, however. You'll also be responsible for your
business's finances, protecting your business and personal assets, keeping your business legal,
paying taxes, keeping records, managing employees and more.
If you understand what you're doing and know how to minimize the risks and challenges,
the independence, personal satisfaction and financial rewards you can achieve as an entrepreneur
can make starting a small business the best decision you'll ever make. (Make your dream a
reality.
A business plan is not just a lengthy document that helps you obtain financing. It's truly a
thorough examination of whether your business idea is viable. Preparing your business plan in
the early stages of developing your business can save you a great deal of time, money and
heartache by showing you where the weaknesses in your idea lie and giving you a chance to
correct them before you make any serious mistakes. Once you've completed your initial plan and,
hopefully, obtained the investment or loan you were seeking, keep in mind that your business
plan should be a living document. Don't just store your business plan on a shelf and never look at
it again, thinking that it has served its purpose. You will want to revisit your plan from time to
28 | P a g e

time, dropping some components and adding others as you learn what works for your business
and what doesn't. As your business evolves, you'll find that older versions of your plan provide a
helpful reminder of how far you've come. As a bonus, continually updating your plan will put
you ahead of the game if you later need to secure additional financing.
Recommendations
In this generation, the customers nowadays seek more innovative and fresh new ideas
