Regions around the world create unique expressions of what we call whiskey,
whisky, scotch whiskey and bourbon, utilizing various grains, barrels and aging
techniques to create distinct profile characteristics. Because we love whiskey so
much and want you to explore the many varieties to find the perfect whiskey for
your mood and taste, we developed the Bourbon Baron Program.

or more corn: originally the corn whiskey produced in Bourbon County, Kentucky.

RYE
JAPANESE WHISKY
In the United States, rye whiskey is, by law, made from a mash of at least 51% rye.
(The other ingredients of the mash are usually corn and malted barley.) It is distilled to
no more than (80% abv), and aged in charred, new oak barrels. The whiskey must be put
into such barrels at not more than (62.5% abv).
Rye whiskey that has been so aged for at least two years may be further
designated as straight, as in straight rye whiskey.
WHEAT
Wheat whiskey is a style of whiskey defined by having a grain bill which consists
primarily of wheat. The United States government only allows a product to be labeled
wheat whiskey when the mash is composed of at least 51% wheat.
IRISH WHISKEY
Irish whiskey is whiskey made on the island of Ireland. The word whiskey is an
Anglicisation of uisce beatha or uisge beatha, a phrase from the Goidelic branch of
languages meaning water of life.

CANADIAN WHISKY
Canadian whisky is a type of whisky produced in Canada. Most Canadian whiskies
are blended multi-grain liquors containing a large percentage of corn spirits, and are
typically lighter and smoother than other whisky styles.
SCOTCH WHISKY
Scotch whisky, often simply called Scotch, is malt whisky or grain whisky made
in Scotland. Scotch whisky must be made in a manner specified by law. All Scotch
whisky was originally made from malted barley.
