Installation of LVAC Equipment
Description
1.0

Objective
The purpose of this method statement is to describe the process of installation of LVAC and its
accessories through the guidelines contained herein so as to ensure that the job execution
complies specification and serves the intended function to satisfactory level.

2.0

Scope of works
The scope of works may engage such electrical parts and lifting.

3.0

Procedure and Methodology

3.0.1 Handling and Storage

LVAC shall be stored in a covered/dry space at all the time

LVAC equipment received at site shall be inspected and ensured that the materials are as
per approved drawings.
iii) Any discrepancies, damage etc, found will be notified and reported for further action
iv) Site Supervisor has to ensure that the LVAC panels used at site are of free from any
damage or deformity of any kind. Any minor damages observed shall be repaired suitably
and in case if the repairs could not be done properly, the LVAC equipment are to be sent to
the suppliers factory for rectification.

3.0.2 General Installation Procedure

i)

Check all the material delivered to site is inspected properly by site supervisor and check if
it is stored properly as per manufacturers recommendations
ii) Work shall be carried out by the site staff under strict supervision and guidance of the site
supervisor
iii) The site supervisor shall check all the installation as per installation check list
iv) Ensure the work area is ready and safe to start the installation of LVAC Panel.
v) Ensure the installation of LVAC panel are carried out in accordance with manufacturers
installation and recommendations, requirement of applicable standards and in accordance
with recognized industrial practices and specified in project specification to ensure that
installation complies with requirements.

vi) Prior to start the installation, refer to the approved drawing related to the area of installation

and ensure that required materials are available at site.
vii) Ensure the LVAC panels are stored properly and there is no mark of damage or deformity of
any kind before issuing the material from the store. All materials and accessories should
also be free of dust, scale, or oil.

All installation shall be accordance to applicable regulations
ix) All components such as relays, fuses. CT, breaker size, bus bar size, etc shall be verified
against the approved drawings
x) LVAC panel shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations,
approved site layout and as per site requirement
xi) Cable pulling, termination & crimping shall be done as per cables method statement.
xii) Termination of cables shall be done by competent technicians/electricians.
xiii) LVAC Panel shall be provided with proper earthing connections.
xiv) Manufacturer recommendations are to be followed for all relay and other breaker current
settings, as per total connected loads and the discrimination study of the system.
xv) The manufacturers representative to verify the site installations and provide acceptance of
same prior to commissioning of LVAC panel.
xvi) Upon completion the installation of LVAC panel, ensure all the works carried out as per
AUTHORITY regulations.

Ensure only trained/authorized & licensed persons only shall operate the power tools and
do the testing job.
Ensure that all personnels dealing with live electricity shall be certified and competent
Ensure that temporary live cable management plan shall develop and implemented.
Necessary PPE to be worn while working in energize to be worn while working in energized
circuits.
Ensure adequate lighting is provide in the working area if the inside the building area to be
well illuminated.
Safe lifting and shifting of LVAC panel and its related hazards and risks shall be identifying.
Ensure service area/work area openings are provided with warning signage to be provided
(Danger: High Voltage)
Emergency response plan & procedure shall be developed and established as per site
condition during the execution of activity
Calibrated instruments only to be used.
