3. COURSE OBJECTIVES

The students will gain the knowledge of fundamentals of Electrical measurement, Electronic
Measurement and measurement of physical quantities with fundamentals of sensors and
transducers.
Also students will get introduced with smart sensors.
They will understand the internal structure of all instruments that are used in measuring
parameters related to electronics and also difference between analog meters and digital meters
and their performance characteristics.
This is subject will act as a base to invoke student to take interest in technical activities like
Contraption and Project building.
This subject will also make students curious about signal conditioning and internal operation
of every electronic measurement system they will come across hereafter.

Course Objective Mapping with PEO: 1 and 2

4. COURSE OUTCOMES
Students will be able to

State and define absolute units and dimensions, do unit conversion and state the role of
Standards in the Measurement.
Define transducer and classify it, and understand how to choose a particular transducer for a
particular application, cost and operating conditions.
Define various measurement terms, parameters and errors.
Use analog and digital multimeter, and different graphical recording devices that can used to
record a measured quantity.
Able to explain principles of measurement of physical quantities like temperature, pressure,
flow, level, velocity, displacement and Measure them with help of a transducer.
Identify the role of Sensors and Transducers in the process of Measurement and
instrumentation.
Understand scope of research and development in instrumentation field with smart sensors
introduced.
