Purpose:
This Method statement provides the sequence and Methodology that will be
used for
Installation, Termination and Testing of LV cables and wires in
order to achieve compliance with the contract specification and Drawings

2.

Scope of Work:
Installation, Termination and Testing of LV cables and wires detailed on
contract drawing and approved shop drawings.

Responsibility:
In-Line with Project Organization chart and responsibilities explained in
our Quality plan, the following staff will be responsible to carry out the
installation process from start to
Completion
5.1 Project Manager
The Project Manager will have full authority and overall responsibility to
manage, supervise. He will Control the works and will have direct
responsibility for ensuring safe working
practices and compliance with
regulatory authoritys requirements. Co-ordinate with the engineers and
the Employer Representative for execution of the Contract Scope of
works. Implement the project quality systems to be the satisfaction of the
project requirements. Review changes and variations to evaluate impact
of those on time and schedule.
5.2 Construction Manager
Responsible to ensure that all works are carried-out as per the
specifications, approved shop drawings and Method Statement as per the
manufacturer instructions and
coordinated with other works.

Provide solution to issues that may take place during the


installation
process. Ensure a safe working environment for all work, project engineer
is also responsible for safety of labour.
5.3 Project Engineer
Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all works are carried out
as per the specifications, approved shop drawings and Method
Statements as per the manufacturers
instructions and coordinated
with other works.
5.4 QA/QC Engineer
Responsible to monitor the work Quality on site with all associated
aspects such as but not limited to quality of material arriving to site prior
to installation, installation methodology and procedure and carrying-out
initial inspections for completed works prior to submit
official request
for final inspection by the Engineer .
5.5 Site Engineer

The site Engineer shall co-ordinate site activities and provide


supervision to the workers executing the job online in-line with the
approved work schedule and sequence of work
Shall liaise with site representatives of employer and contractor and
co-ordinate safety procedures with site supervisors and site foremen.
Shall Co-ordinate and explain the work to be carried out to the
Supervisors / Site Foreman.
Ensure the compliance of works with the related approved Quality
Control Procedure and co-ordinate with the Contractor QA/QC Engineer
to advise for the areas to be
issued for inspection.

5.6 Safety Engineer/Officer


The safety is responsible for everyone.
The Safety Engineer/Officer is responsible for ensure that all Health and
Safety Regulations and Requirements are implemented on site.
Conduct Tool Box Talk to all site workers and supervisors prior to work
commencement on site and attendance sheet must be signed by the all
attendees.
Perform site Safety Risk Assessment to identify hazards prior to work
commencement on site.
Responsible for carrying out training, monitoring the work activities,
carrying out
inspections and reporting to the Principal
contractor safety department and carrying out accident and incident
investigations.

5.7

Site Supervisors and Site Foremen

The project team of experienced Supervisors and Foremen shall ensure the
quality of the installation work carried out, and shall also ensure that it is as
per the latest approved construction shop drawing issued for installation and
according to instructions received from the Site Engineer.
To provide direct supervision to workers on site during the installation process
of the
Installation, Termination and Testing of LV cables & wires
To ensure that he has adequate resources of machinery, labour and materials
to carry out all the activities efficiently and to discuss with the Site Engineer.
To ensure safe and clean working environment.

6.

Installation Procedure:
6.1

Preliminary Activities /Approvals


6.1.1 Submit to the Engineer for approval the materials ,
equipments and
shop drawings to be used
for the
Installation , Termination and Testing of LV
cables and wires
6.1.2 Submit for approval Method Statement & Risk Assessment.
6.1.3 Identify quantity and ensure all risks are managed in this
method statement and residual risks are acceptable.

6.2

Pre- construction Activities :


6.2.1 Storage

6.2.1.1
All material received by at site shall be inspected by QA/QC Engineer.
6.2.1.2
Any discrepancies, damages etc. shall be notified to stores for further
action.
6.2.1.3
All materials for complete cable quantity reached to site shall be
Identified/ checked as per Delivery order.
6.2.1.4
Storage of materials shall be in an enclosed space free from
moisture,
Water leakage and excessive dust.
6.2.1.5
Protection shall be provided from direct sunlight, weather, water,
fumes etc.
6.3

Pre-installation checks:

6.3.1 Ensure that all safety requirements are in place in accordance with the
project safety plan.
6.3.2 Ensure that before starting the work; the appropriate drawings were
approved
by consultant and the revision of approved drawing is being
used for
installation.
6.3.3 Ensure that all materials used have passed receiving inspection in
accordance

with QA procedures and are not damaged or defective. Any


non-conforming materials must be labelled and returned to the
quarantine area in accordance
With procedures.
6.3.4 Ensure that all electricians and helpers are aware of the correct materials
handling and installation procedures to ensure the best quality of
workmanship.
6.4

6.5

Prior to Installation of LV cables


6.4.1 Ensure that the Supports, brackets for cable tray/ladder are
installed as per Specification, approved shop drawing,
approved materials and Method
Statement of cable tray
installation.
6.4.2 Ensure Cable Trays runs are installed neatly on the surface and
be truly vertical, horizontal or parallel and offset with the
features of the building.
6.4.3 Ensure cable tray joints are avoided in mid span joints.
6.4.4 Ensure that all metal works, fixing bolts, etc are painted with
two coats of
galvanized coat paint on to cutting edge
and all cut edges to be filed smooth.
6.4.5 Ensure approved sleeves are provided and interrupt cable tray
pass through a floor or fire barrier with opening sized for the
cables as per
specification/builders
works.
6.4.6 Ensure the entire installation is approved by the Consultant, if
found any
comment rectify the same prior to start the
cable laying.
Installation of LV cables
6.5.1
Only approved materials from same manufacture shall be
used.
6.5.2
Proper cable jacks should be used to position the cable
drum under the
supervision of site engineer/safety
officer.
6.5.3
Sets bends shall be sized to allow for the minimum
permissible radius of the LV
cable on the tray and all cables
shall be drawn in a manner to ensure no friction bends occure.
6.5.4
LV cables shall be installed in a way that to retain their
relative positions on bends and sweeps.
6.5.5
LV cables shall be installed on trays/ladder in a single
layer as per specification.
6.5.6
All LV cables shall be fixed on the cable trays/ladder
using cable ties with a space of 2D in between the two centres
of two cables, where D is the diameter of LV cable.
6.5.7
Ensure load bearing cleats are provided in vertical tray
installations and LV
cables are securely fixed on the tray.
6.5.8
After installation of LV cables, dressing shall be done on
proper way neat and cleanly.

6.5.9
LV cable glands shall be fitted to the metal enclosures of
the panel in order to fix the cables properly on both outdoor
and indoor cable installations.
6.5.10
LV cables shall be fitted with cable lugs by means of
hydraulic compressor type crimping tools in order to obtain the
correct crimp depth.
6.5.11
LV cables and earthing cables shall be tighten properly to
the respective
terminals.
6.5.12
Ensure that the sleeves/wall/slab opening shall be sealed
with rock wool and approved flame mastic when LV cables are
pulled out and fixed.
6.5.13
Ensure no binding tape is used for fixing LV cables in
the cable trays, cable ties and cleats are to be used.
6.5.14
The cable identification labels are provided at both
ends in order to identify the particular lines.
6.5.15
Raise WIR for inspection of LV cables with accessories
installation, submit to the consultant engineer for the approval.

6.6
Prior to Installation of Wires
6.6.1 Ensure that the Supports, brackets for G.I. trunking are installed as
per
Specification, approved shop drawing, approved materials
and Method
Statement of G.I. trunking installation.
6.6.2 Ensure G.I. Trunkings runs are installed neatly on the surface and be
truly
vertical, horizontal or parallel with the features of the
building
6.6.3 Check earth continuity links are installed at all joints of G.I. trunking
and cable tray as required by specification.
6.6.4 Check the conduits and boxes in both ends are free from
damages and
blockages.
6.6.5 Blockage are checked by inserting the draw wire and check
whether it reached without any disturbance in the boxes.
6.6.6 Ensure the containment installation are approved by the
Consultant.

6.7

Installation of wires
6.7.1 Pulling compound or lubricant shall be used for pulling the
wires wherever
necessary in accordance with the project
specification.
6.7.2 Pulling compound shall be soap based for short runs (not
greater than 20 meter) for semi-conductive insulated wire.
6.7.3 Only approved Wires shall be used on site.
6.7.4 Proper cable jacks should be used to position the cable drum
under the
supervision of site engineer/safety officer.

6.7.5 After installation of wires, dressing shall be done on proper


way neat and cleanly.
6.7.6 only cable ties shall be used during dressing of wires, any
kind of adhesive tape is not permitted in this work.
6.7.7 Wires shall be fitted with cable lugs by means of manual
crimping tools with the respective wire, lug and tool sizes as
required during termination.
6.7.8 Wires shall be tighten properly to the respective terminals.
6.7.9 Wires of outlets shall be running in wall through embedded
PVC conduits and G.I. back box.
6.7.10Raise WIR for inspection of Wires with accessories installation;
submit to the consultant engineer for the approval.
7.0 Testing of LV Cables and Wires
Prior to terminating the cables and wires in the respective
panels, continuity test And insulation test shall be carried out to
identify and confirm the correct cables are connected with the
right terminals and no damages to the cores and insulation for
that find attached the formats for the engineers review and
approval.
8.0 Labour, Plant & Material Requirements

Labour:

High calibre and well trained Charge Hands and Electrician will
be dedicated to carry out the installation, termination and
testing of LV cables and wires under the supervision of the
project team shown on the project organization chart in
accordance with the approved shop drawings.
Materials:

Approved Materials as per the approved specifications includes:


Installation, termination and testing of LV cables and wires.
Plant and Hand tools:
The following indicative tools shall be available on site as a
minimum for the
installation, termination and testing of LV
cables and wires

Standard Electrical Tool Box


Insulation cutter ,plier ,Hammer
Hacksaw Blade and frame wire cutter.
Ladder and scaffolding
Measuring tape, cable jacks, pulling winch
Roller and nylon rope
Sprit level and bob
Megger and mustimeter
Hydraulic power crimping tools and lubricant
All safety items

9. Health & Safety Requirements:

All Safety Regulations and requirements as per the project approved


EHSP plan MUST be implemented and monitored on site at all times
by ----- staff.
Safety induction and training to all involved site staff will be provided
by the main
contractor prior to commencing any activities on site.
Tool box talk will be provided by ----- Safety to highlight and hazards or
safety regulations to be followed during the installation of UPS System
on site and attendance singing sheet will be kept.
All Personal on Site must Wear (PPE) equipments at all times
Ensure proper barricading to the work area with Standard safety
warning signs to be placed all around, visible to the public at any point
where work on site to be performed
Traffic Management with proper access to and from the site during the
installation
process shall be maintained until completion of the
works
The approved Risk Assessment Sheet must be implemented during the
work course on site to prevent or minimize any identified risks during
the execution of the job on site

10. Environmental Requirements


In accordance with DGBR and BM Environmental requirements and
instructions related to waste collection & housekeeping on site, ----will
dedicated the required number of workers to perform the house
cleaning on site at all times and segregate and dispose any waste
materials in-order to maintained a healthy environment during the
installation, termination and testing of LV cables and wires Workers to
Clear all the tools and equipment after each work shift and ensure all
surrounding areas are free of debris and work area is left in safe
condition
11.
Quality Control Arrangements (Testing, Inspections &
Records):

All Quality control measures and site inspections will be carried out in
accordance with the approved PQAP plan
Quality Assurance and Quality control of all aspects of the installation
process must be monitored at all times by -----QA/QC Engineer

12.

Following the installation, Termination and testing of LV cables and wires,


----will conduct initial inspection prior to submit a formal request for
inspection (WIR) by the client.
Request for Work Inspection Request shall be prepared by -----Engineer
and shall be issued to BM for further inspection with Consultant.
------QA/QC Engineer shall co-ordinate with Client / Consultant to arrange
for site inspection and submit an (IR) 48 hours minimum before
inspection date
