Task
Creat a boot policy named LoudBoot-w-Coh that performs the following:
Bypasses the Cisco logo on bootup, and instead shows you important storage-related
information such as FC and iSCSI target disks.
Supports Intel Coherency.
Enables USB devices to access any blade.
Allows PCI devices to address memory above 4GB.
Create an IPMI profile that allows a user named admin with a password of cciedc01 to access
and fully administer a blade.
Create a disk configuration policy that allows a blade to mirror two local disks together, but
ensure that if the policy is dissociated with the blade, the blade keeps the local disks in a
mirrored fashion.
Create a power cap policy that is better than the default, allowing a blade to stay powered on
even if other blades must be powered down.
Create a scrub policy that allows both disks and BIOS to be wiped clean in the event of a service
profile dissociation.
Configuration
On the Servers tab, filter or navigate to Policies >> root, right-click BIOS Policies, and click
Create BIOS Policy.
FEEDBACK
Assign the name as shown, and disable Quiet Boot (this allows the Cisco Logo to be bypassed
and instead shows us critical storage information at boot). Either click Next or click Intel
Directed IO on the left.
Note:
This is a feature that requires deep understanding of CPU cache, memory, and IO
bus architecture before enabling, and we are not suggesting that you turn it on in
a production environment before reading about it. This step merely demonstrates
where to find it and other features of BIOS.
Click USB on the left. Disable USB Front Panel Access Lock (meaning disable the lock or
enable support for USB devices).
Click PCI Configuration on the left. Enable Memory Mapped IO Above 4Gb Config and click
Finish.
Click OK.
Right-click IPMI Access Policies and click Create IPMI Access Profile.
Enter the name admin and password cciedc01, choose Admin for the Role, and Click OK.
Click OK.
Click OK.
Right-click Local Disk Config Policies and click Create Local Disk Configuration Policy.
Assign it an intuitive name, select Raid 1 Mirrored for the Mode, and select the Protect
Configuration check box. Click OK.
Click OK.
Right-click Power Control Policies and click Create Power Control Policy.
Assign it an intuitive name and choose the option to cap the power with the Priority of 1 (the
default is 5, and lower is better). Click OK.
Click OK.
Assign it an intuitive name and select Yes for Disk Scrub and BIOS Settings Scrub. Click OK.
Click OK.
