Danielson Artifact #2
Ive decided to submit a seating chart for my second artifact
because it demonstrates knowledge of students, how I organize
physical space, and how I manage classroom procedures and
student behavior. I will just briefly explain the seating chart.
I have placed students strategically according to their learning
levels, the relationships they have with other students, their
disabilities and whether they need accommodations or not, and to
set them up for a successful learning environment.
For example, Allison has a 504 plan due to vision impairment. She
has to sit towards the front of the classroom and on the outside of
the classroom because she sometimes needs to leave class due
to anxiety. We also have to print music and other assignments on
11x14 paper for Allison. Whenever we write on the white board,
Allison needs either a written copy of what we are writing, or to
be up close by the board. The needs of Allison are understood by
other students in the class, and the respect between the students
is evident.
Justice and Kayla are step sisters. They are constantly talking if
they are sitting by each other. I have purposefully made sure that
they are sitting far away from each other. Each student is aware
of the consequences of talking. First is a warning, second is
staying after class and talking to the teacher, third is sitting in the
office and doing book work during class, and forth is
administration involvement. When I have to talk to the student
after class, I contact the parents of the students and keep them
involved.
Hannah and Sophie are sisters. They are separated not because
they have behavior issues, but because they are good examples
of students and can help support the other girls in behaving

correctly. They are both leaders in this class, and when we break
up into groups, they are ahead of the other students and help
teaching concepts that other students struggle with. They are also
surrounded by those students who need extra help during the
regular class period.
