    substationsandUnionGovernmentwillprovide572crorerupeesto
    implementit.TheIntegratedPowerDevelopmentScheme(IPDS)isoneof
    theflagshipschemesoftheMinistryofPowerandwillbeatthecoreattempt
    toensure24x7powerforall.
    WhatisobjectiveofIPDS?
    TheScheme,announcedintheUnionBudget201415,aimsatstrengthening
    ofsubtransmissionnetwork,Metering,ITapplication,CustomerCare
    Services,provisioningofsolarpanelsandthecompletionoftheongoing
    worksofRestructuredAcceleratedPowerDevelopmentandcompletionof
    theReformsProgramme(RAPDRP).
    TheProjectenvisagesconvertingareaoverheadlinesintounderground
    cablingintheareasaroundthetemplesandghatsintheVaranasicity.The
    SchemeincludesupgradationoftheelectricalassetsatSubcenters,lines
    anddistributiontransformers,capacityenhancementandrenewaloftheold
    substationsandinstallationofrooftopsolarpanelingovernment
    buildings.
    TheschemewillhelpinreductioninAT&Closses,establishmentofIT
    enabledenergyaccounting/auditingsystem,improvementinbilledenergy
    basedonmeteredconsumptionandimprovementincollectionefficiency.
