Unit 3 Module 2: My Room

Aim: the students will use the English language to produce sentences about their room.
Objectives:
1. SWBAT identify the rooms and the furniture items;
2. SWBAT use the prepositions: on, in, under, next to, behind;
3. SWBAT make sentences using prepositions.
Materials: textbook, poster, TV, laptop, box, toy,
Skills involved: listening, reading, speaking
Language: this is my house/ room. The cat is on/in/next to the box. What colour is the bed? The
bed is red
Words: From units 1-3

Introduction:

The teacher greats the students and they great back. The teacher tells them that today they will
have a guest. The teacher introduces the guest and asks a pupil to come at the blackboard to write
the date.
Activity 1: warm-up - whole class 7 minutes
Children sing Hello and I can follow the rules songs in order to create a warm and proper
atmosphere for the following 45 minutes

Activity 2: speakingreading whole class 15 minutes


The teacher sticks on the board a poster and asks pupils to identify whats in the room using
the I can spy with my little eye something red/green/ yellow/ purple.? game: Each child is
coming in front of the class and pick a sticker- each sticker has a word on it with some of the
objects from the room- and say I can spy with my little eye something and the classmates
will guess what she/ he spied from that big poster, then the teacher asks pupils to create
several sentences about what can they see in the room using colours.
Activity 3: Reading, Listening, Speaking pair work 10 minutes

T puts on the desk a box. Inside the box is a cat(toy). T moves the cat around the box
and gives the students some examples as the cat is on/in/under/ behind/ next to the
box. Then she draws the box and the cat and write on the blackboard in order to
exemplify the examples that she gave earlier using the key words: in, on, under,
behind and next to.

The teacher asks the pupils to move their chairs in order to play a game in pairs.
There will be pairs of two and one pupil will play the game with the teacher. The
teacher gives each pair a box and asks each pupil to take a pen/ rubber/ sharpener and
move it around the box creating questions and answers about where their tools using
the preposition they discussed. Where is the pen? The pen is on the box. Where is the
pen? The pen is under the box

Activity 4: Listening -whole class 8 minutes

T asks pupils to put their chairs back and open their text book at page 31. She

asks them to look carefully at the books and where are they. She asks the pupils to tell

her what they can see in the room. I can see a bed/ a cupboard, a table, a schoolbag.
Then she asks the pupils to take out their colours in order to colour the books. They will
listen to the instructions and colour as the teacher asks.

Activity 5: Speaking-listening- whole class 4 minutes

T plays the song On, in, under, bye song. They listen, sing and show with their

hands the prepositions: in, on, under, by.


Activity 6: Homework whole class 1 minute

For homework the pupils will have to draw their rooms and in order to present it

next time to their classmates. Then, teacher congratulates students and rewards them with
a Well Done card.
