dveloppe tout au long du 20e sicle. La pop
culture englobe l'industrie culturelle et les
mdias de masse sous toutes leurs formes, de
la presse jusqu' Internet, en passant par le
cinma, la radio et la tlvision. Cette approche

Tout livre sur le western en franais est priori
un cadeau du grand Walawala, mais dans ce
cas prcis je ne saurais conseiller ce livre
irritant plus dun titre. Dabord le travail
ddition est lamentable. Il ny a que deux
manire dcrire le mot shrif : en
franais : shrif, en anglais sheriff (sans
accent). Dans ce fichu bouquin, ce terme
(souvent employ) est orthographi de toutes
les manires possibles sauf la bonne. LOuest
est peuple de schriffs, de schrifs, de shriffs
( la rigueur) mais le comble, cest demployer
trois mauvaises versions diffrentes dans le
mme paragraphe ! Lamentable ! Mon pote Luc

suggr dcrire une lettre de protestation
lauteur, lettre qui commencerait par ces mots
Cher iffe ... Quant la thorie du western
de Pedrono, elle est plus que discutable
puisque quelle exclut la plupart des westerns
de Bud Boetticher (une aberration), tous les
film tourns en dehors des tats-unis (y
compris ceux de Sergio Leone). Que vaut une
thorie que lon btit priori pour y ranger
ensuite ce qui convient, et surtout carter ce
qui ne convient pas. La politesse et ma bonne
ducation mempchent de vous livrer crment
le fond de ma pense. A viter... Ajouterais-je
que personne chez Kim na daign rpondre
ma lettre polie signalant ce gchis ditorial !

exprimentation et plein d'audace.
Faute despace, les rubriques guerre ,

absentes de ce numro.
