TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION IN HPCL’S CONTEST ­ 2016

Introduction:

There are a number of Terms and Conditions as detailed below for entry. These are important to ensure that the Project you propose to submit is eligible to win and should meet important legal and fair criteria. Note that any deviation from these Terms and Conditions may regretfully render your submission to the competition void. The details of the contest are described on the contest portal and attached to this terms and conditions and it is expressly stated herein that this terms and conditions shall at all times form an integral part of the contest. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions. Registration to the contest is absolutely voluntarily, and that HPCL shall not be responsible or liable for any costs or other implications arising out of your participation to this contest, or incurred by you towards the project work or for the participation to the contest, in any way.

Eligibility to Enter:

The competition is open only to students individually or in groups of maximum 3 students only from the selected institutes.

Submission and Acceptance:

  • Any entrant/entrants to the competition may submit his/her/their project paper on a topic provided by the Corporation which would be pertaining to and specific to the petrol/diesel business of the Corporation. Entries may be submitted only in English Language.

  • The project paper submitted by the participant/participants for the competition should be within a word limit of 3000 words.

  • Entries will only be acceptable through the available online link (The attachments for project papers should not be more than 6 MB.

  • All entries must be received by closing date published on the portal. HPCL reserves the right to extend the competition deadline at our own discretion, however it would never be obligatory for us to extend the deadline.

  • Each participant can submit only one project paper, however you will have a right to modify the submissions made by you (as many times as one wishes to do the same) before the closure of the competition by 3.00 pm on the closing date notified on the contest portal.

  • We may at our sole discretion, amend, revise, supplement, delete, vary, add, modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Competition or any of these Terms and Conditions prior to the cessation of the Competition for any reason and without prior notice. Competition participants shall be bound by such changes, amendments, revisions, supplements, deletions, variations, additions, modifications, cancellations, terminations or suspensions.

  • The study/ research undertaken by student/s towards development of project paper, once submitted for the contest shall be the property of HPCL and that student(s), faculty or institute shall not claim any right or interest in the project paper/research submitted to HPCL and the same can be used for any purpose that HPCL shall decide or finds it suitable for.

  • Once a project report has been submitted to HPCL thereafter no specific or separate consent or approval shall be required of the concerned student(s) / institute.

Evaluation Process:

The evaluation process that shall be followed by HPCL be as follows:

Screening and Final Evaluation of Project Papers:

First level of screening of all the entries shall be at campus level, by faculty from respective campus and / or functional experts from HPCL. The objectives of first level of screening shall be as follows, Qualify the entries from respective campus meeting threshold requirements of project papers.

Evaluate and select the Top 2 entries for each campus.

A shortlist of approx. top 20 entries shall be prepared through evaluation by experienced subject matter experts (SMEs) at HPCL. Shortlisted entries / students shall be invited for a final presentation to HPCL at our Management Development Institute at Nigdi, Pune. The stay arrangements shall be made at the venue and expenses for travel by air (economy class) from the location / city of institute shall be reimbursed to students based on production of actual tickets. We would be keen to look for participation of faculty members from the institutes to reflect on work put up by their students.

Evaluation of project papers shall be primarily based on the following parameters:

  • ­Understanding of statement of purpose for the topic.

  • ­Clarity of approach and objectivity displayed in different elements of project.

  • ­Significance, novelty of proposed idea, approach or solution.

  • ­Higher relevance to real­life business contexts.

The evaluation and process involved in the contest right up to declaration of final results shall be solely decided and at the discretion of HPCL, and the student(s)/ faculty/institute hereby waive all their rights to raise any disputes pertaining to the same.

The Rewards and recognitions envisaged for the student(s) through this contest are envisaged by HPCL as a means to encourage / motivate students to participate for achieving and sharing quality learning, however HPCL shall have the sole discretion to either discontinue, reduce, enhance such rewards announced at launch or during the contest, in doing so HPCL shall not be liable to pay any financial compensation or claim of any kind.

Intellectual Property

All entrants agree that the project paper submitted by them is their original or authorized work. If students are using any authorized work of any third party they shall obtain written authorization from owner of such work wherein it should be specifically mentioned that the project report submitted based upon such work shall be the exclusive property of HPCL That the study, research undertaken by student/s towards development of project paper, once submitted for the contest shall be the property of HPCL and that student/s, faculty or institute shall not claim any copyright, trademark or any other Intellectual Proprietary Rights. In submitting to the competition, you agree to grant permission to the HPCL license, right to publish or otherwise use the submitted Project report in any way that we may deem fit. HPCL shall not be liable to pay any royalty, commissions, etc to any student(s), faculty, and institutes for using such Project report

Confidentiality

As a general principle, all business, financial, operational, administrative, marketing, economic information, data, documents, business arrangement, specifications, samples pertaining to HPCL hereto, as the case may be,

disclosed by HPCL to the Student/s or faculty or institute whether orally or in writing or in electronic form, in connection of their study, research undertaken for project development shall be considered as Confidential Information. It is hereby agreed by the recipient of such Confidential Information that they shall take the required steps to ensure the protection of such Confidential Information and that any such Confidential Information shall not be disclosed to any third party or to the competitors of HPCL. The recipient is aware that the Confidential Information has been provided by HPCL for conducting study relating to the contest only and that it cannot be used by them elsewhere for any other purpose, moreover all such Confidential Information shall at all times remain the sole and exclusive property of HPCL.

Competition Prizes, & Judging

Judges to adjudicate the contest may either be officers of HPCL or other experts in the particular field which HPCL may decide at its sole discretion. Participants waive their right to raise any objection on the same. Complete transparency shall be maintained during the entire competition.

The decision of evaluation panel nominated by HPCL shall be final and binding.

Disputes

The terms and conditions of this contest shall be governed by laws of India and parties submit themselves to the exclusive jurisdiction of Courts in Mumbai.
