About the Composer

Will Huff 1875 - 1942
Composer, Will Huff, was a native of Ohio. He learned to play alto horn as a boy and later became an accomplished
performer on cornet. From an early age he organized bands and continued that activity wherever he lived. Approximately 90
musical works are attributed to Huff, 55 of which have been published. In addition to composer and performer, Huffs resume
included salesman of musical instruments, instructor, conductor, photographer and interior decorator.

About the Editor

Roger Cawkwell
Roger studied composition, saxophone, clarinet, flute & piano at the Royal Academy of Music finishing in the early 70s. Since
then he has been active in jazz and popular music as well as in classical styles, playing with groups as diverse as the John
Dankworth Band, the London Sinfonietta and the British soul band The Foundations. At the turn of the Millennium he began to
re-invent himself as a brass player and currently plays French horn in several wind groups. He has always been active as a
writer, being musical assistant to Dankworth and Mike Gibbs. He has contributed scores to numerous groups including the
Ambache Chamber Orchestra, Lambeth Wind Orchestra and the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of North London. As a teacher
Roger has coached many students at Morley and currently, Goldsmiths College.

The Zouaves March
The original Zouaves were members of French Regiments who served in North Africa. Their colorful uniforms set them apart. No longer reserved
for French infantry, now their ideals and uniforms have spread to other areas of the world.
This march by Will Huff is easy to play yet effective in a brand new edition by Roger Cawkwell. Rogers new edition, the first in nearly a century,
resolves errors and omissions from the first edition of this excellent march. This is a first rate addition to the library.
