Proper Installation of the Application Server on the OS is imperative for predictable functioning.
This document provides a step-by-step method to carry out the installation in order to rule out any
oversight and wrong steps at basic levels.

2. Purpose
2.1

To ensure uniform cross location deployment of the Domino Server in order that all installations are
the same, manageable, smoothly operational and continuously available.

2.2

To ensure that the setup conforms to the Corporate eMail Policy.

3. Scope
3.1

The scope of this Policy includes all Personnel in the MIS Department responsible for setup,
upkeep and maintenance of the eMail System, the Location MIS, Top Management, FMS
Contractors, MIS Headquarters, Location Heads and Corporate MIS

5. Procedure
5.1

The following section details Installation of Lotus Domino 6.5.5 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0.

STEP 1
Insert the Domino Server cd & type mount /mnt/cdrom, else open a terminal session & navigate to the CD by
typing cd /mnt/cdrom. Type ls to view the directory contents. Then copy all files & folder from the cd into any
other folder. Eg. (Linux).
Type cd to enter in the Linux directory & Type ./install to launch it.
Note: Throughout the installation, you will press the Tab key to move on. (This is comparable to clicking Next
in a standard GUI). Press Tab and you will see the second screen & user Enter key to make selection from
list.
The Domino server installation program will launch, and you will first see the Welcome screen.

Ensure /local/notesdata & Press Enter to change the Location for Domino Data

This will complete the Installation of Domino Server.


STEP 19
After finished the Domino Server installation Export the display GUI screen with following command

xhost +
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0

Once export the display Insert the Redhat CD no.3 and Install all rpm packages started name from compat .
STEP 21
After installation use su-notes to switch to user notes
Then use cd /data/notesdata to start the Domino Server Data.
Use /opt/lotus/bin/server to start the Domino Server Configuration
