ABSTRACT
Quality and productivity play important role in todays manufacturing
market. Automation providing high end quality. Now a days due to very stiff and
cut throat competitive market condition in manufacturing industries. The main
objective of industries reveal with producing better quality product at minimum
cost and increase productivity. Drilling machine is most vital and common
machine used for producing hole operation use for produce machine part with
desire surface quality and cost constrain. To obtain main objective of company
regards quality and productivity. In the present project an attempt is made to
reduce the effect of machining ideal time parameters because of mounting ,
dismounting, drilling etc that are influences on responsive output parameters such
as time of producing hole, quantity of job, quality of job. This is done by using
indexing. The effort to investigate optimal time of producing hole and their
contribution on producing better Surface quality and higher Productivity with less
cost automation. Hereby the indexing work can be done through motor and
pneumatic cylinder.
Introduction:
It develops a circuit, using electro pneumatic components, which enables
converting sensitive type drilling machine to an automated one. Drilling which
had its origin in antiquity, is still the most common way of originating a hole
in metal or other materials. Thus to automate the drilling process we use
electro pneumatic circuit and components. Pneumatics system forms the
most primitive and distinct class of mechanical control engineering. They
are classified under the terms fluid power control, which describes any
process or device that can converts, transmits, distributes or control power
through use of pressurized gas or liquid. In a pneumatic system the
working fluid is gas which is compressed above atmospheric pressure to
impact pressure energy to the molecules. This stored pressure potential is
converted to a suitable mechanical work in a appropriate control sequence
using control valves and actuators. The blank is initially stacked in the
hopper, cylinder1 loads the blank on the plate, cylinder2 clamps the blank in its

Literature Review:
1. Automation of Drilling Process Using Electro-Pneumatics System
Akshay R Mahendraker,
Automation is the need of the hour which improves production, reduces
time for manufacturing them and helps to manufacture economically on a
mass scale. Drilling is one of the important manufacturing processes which
need to be automated. In conventional drilling process which is the most common
way to originating a hole in metal or other materials, for precise hole location,
good finish and accurate size. The electro pneumatic circuit helps in converting the
conventional drilling to an automated one. The fluid power (air) which is present
abundant in nature is compressed using screw type compressor which helps in
developing the pressure to required level. The following studies are carried out
1. Time saved by component handling (loading and unloading) using
pneumatic clamp,
2. Increase of productivity quantitative and qualitatively, 3. Improved
repeatability and accuracy,
4. Less human intervention, indirectly reduction in operator fatigue,
5. Less rejection due to automatic controls, and
6. Minimization of production cost.
2. DESIGN & FABRICATION OF AUTOMATED ATTACHMENT FOR
POSITIONING BED OF DRILLING MACHINE WITH RESPECT TO CAD
MODEL, Mr Rohit D. Mardane, Prof. U.D.Gulhane, Dr. A.R.Sahu,
The prime objective of the paper is to introduce a special purpose
attachment for drilling machine, which will convert any drilling machine into
automated drilling machine. This machine will serves as a new solution in
industry. Industrial automation has proven itself an essential part of the
industries today. Its application has provided new solutions, mak ing more
concepts in manufacturing processes implementable. In this paper author
proposing an automated attachment for drilling machine to position work table
with reference to CAD model. With detail study through literature review,
etc., can be attached, and the operation can be performed. By the application of pneumatics, the
pneumatic cylinder with piston which is operated by an air compressor will give the successive
action to operate this machine. By this we can achieve our industrial requirements.
INTRODUCTION
The main objective of our project is to perform various machining operations using Auto feed
mechanism in drilling machine with the help of pneumatic sources. For a developing industry
the operation performed and the parts (or) components produced should have it minimum
possible production cost, then only industry runs profitability. In small-scale industry and
automobile maintenance shops, there are frequent needs of tightening and loosening of screws,
drilling, boring, grinding. Further for every operation separate machine is required. This
increases the initial cost required, large area requirements and large number of machines is
required. In our project the above complicated are rectified.
SELECTION OF PNEUMATICS
Mechanization is broadly defined as the replacement of manual effort by mechanical power.
Pneumatic is an attractive medium for low cost mechanization particularly for sequential (or)
repetitive operations.
Many factories and plants already have a compressed air system, which is capable of providing
the power (or) energy requirements and the control system (although equally pneumatic control
systems may be economic and can be advantageously applied to other forms of power).
The main advantage of an all pneumatic system are usually economic and simplicity the latter
reducing maintenance to a low level. It can also have out standing advantages in terms of safety.
Conclusion:
MERITS
Quick operation
Accuracy is more
DEMERITS
Noise produced
APPLICATIONS
For performing the operations in huge part which cannot be done in ordinary machines.
Since its portable.
