What are CAPM and PMI

The following are the facts about the certification you need to remember:

CAPM: Certified Associate in Project Management.

PMI: Project Management Institute.

PMI is an organization. CAPM is a certification.

PMI conducts CAPM Examinations.

CAPM certification is valid for 5 Years.

PDU: Professional Development Unit.

PMBOK: Project Management Body of Knowledge.

PMBOK is a Text Book for the CAPM Exam.

Application Requirements for the CAPM Exam

1,500 hours of professional
experience on a project team

23 hours of formal project


management education

Application can be submitted online


Once the exam fee is paid, PMI sends an Authorization Letter
Some applications are randomly selected for audit

Examination must be taken within a year of receiving the Authorization Letter

About the CAPM Exam


The following are the exam details:
Total number of Questions: 150. But, out of these, 15 questions are pretest question for future examination.
Only 135 questions are scored.
PMI grades students on each of the chapters and based on this grading they declare a pass or fail.
The grading used is: Below Proficient, Proficient, and Moderately Proficient in each of the five process
groups.
Total duration of the exam is 3 hours.
There is 1 Point for every right question. There is no penalty for wrong answers.
