I.

Introduction

Use this section to introduce the context of your work. Intoduce your company, the division, and the
products that are a part of your division. What are your general roles and responsibilities? This section
should provide an overview of your co-op experience.

II.

Projects

For this section, keep the big picture in mind. What is the problem that your project is addressing? What
is the solution? How does the solution impact the company? It needs to be clear as to why you are doing
the project.
Describe your major project(s), and the value they provide your division. For each project, describe any
techniques/skills/programs/tools you utilized, especially if they were new for you. What have you
learned from your project(s)?
If your work was many smaller projects, please use this section to describe the role you played in your
company. What did you contribute? Describe any techniques/skills/programs/tools you utilized. What
did you learn from the technical work?

III.

Co-op Evaluations

Review and reflect on both the Supervisor Progress Evaluation and the Supervisor Final Evaluation.
In which areas did you improve during the semester? What methods did you use to improve? What are
you most proud of? Which areas were your lowest on the final evaluation and what can you do in the
future to work on those areas?

Important Information for the Final Co-op Report

Consider this a professional report, so the quality should be equivalent to what you would turn in to
your supervisor. Using I is acceptable.
When you write about your projects or other technical information, consider the audience. They DO
NOT work at the company; they are most likely NOT in your field; and they have NO background
knowledge, other than what you provide. Write accordingly. Avoid acronyms or terminology that are
not common, unless you define them.
This report focuses heavily on your own reflection. In all sections, it is important to be thoughtful and
thorough, including details. If any section is vague, brief, or lacking in detail, you will be marked down.
Clearly label sections. You should not write out any of the questions that were listed in the template,
rather provide headings/sub-headings so the reader finds it easy to navigate your report.
There are no requirements on length, but a thoughtful and detailed report would be approximately 7
pages (one page would be the cover page, and one page would be your supervisors approval).
Ultimately, a detailed, thoughtful report would have about 5 (double-spaced) pages of content.

Reflection Questions
Please choose 3 questions from the following list to answer in your report.
1. Discuss the technology you used during your co-op. If the list is lengthy, choose those which were
most critical to your work. How did you learn (if new) or enhance your skills? How will this technology
be useful in your future?
2. One of the biggest benefits of a co-op experience is to apply what you have learned in the classroom
to the real world problems you will face in your career. Provide one example of a situation that required
keen problem solving, and be specific as to your methods. How has your co-op influened your ability to
identify, formulate and solve problems?
3. Every employer wants an employee they can trust, so your professional ethics are crucial. Provide an
example of a time when you were faced with an ethical situation. What did you do? Looking back, would
you have done anything differently? What did you learn? How has this shaped your ethics as a
professional?
4. Provide three specific examples of what you did to successfully establish an identity as a Professional
during your co-op.
