Thank you for choosing this quick and easy resource pack that will allow your
class to explore the world of The Fox and the Star.

The Fox and the Star is the story of a Fox who lived in a deep, dense forest. For
as long as Fox could remember, his only friend had been Star, who lit the forest
paths each night. But then one night Star wasnt there, and Fox had to face the
forest all alone. Follow Fox and the journey to find Star and the creatures Fox
meets along the way.
The author, Coralie Bickford-Smith, is a designer at Penguin books. The Fox and
the Star is her first book. It was named Waterstones Book of the Year 2015 and
one of Time Outs 100 Childrens Books of All Time. The design and illustration
are inspired by the works of William Morris, and the story explores themes of
friendship and loss: Foxs search for Star takes him on a journey of sorrow before
he finds his way lit by hope. It is a story for everyone who has a friend, or who
has lost someone or something, children and adults alike.
The resources within this pack are suitable for KS1 pupils and will encourage your
children to engage with the themes of Friendship, Belief and Determination and
can be used as a Literary or PSHE resource or as an extra-curricular activity. This
book and the activities included in this pack are designed to:

Improve understanding and comprehension of text types

Develop confidence and mental fluency with numbers and counting
Understand and explore feelings and relationships
Develop a wide range of art and design techniques
