Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo form a terrific trio

With as much as 277 Goals between them and still counting, Gareth bale,
Karim Benzema and Cristina Ronaldo make for a formidable trio, perhaps
the most successful ever in the history of football. Dubbed the BBC, they
make up Real Madrids bulwark against the opposition. With Benzema
primarily acting as an excellent assist provider, Cristina Ronaldo and
Gareth Bale act as the wingers, easing the ball into the goal post
effortlessly. Besides, the trio use a variety of techniques to confound the
opposition and net goals.
Formed midway through the 2013-2014 season after Gareth Bale was
signed in by Real Madrid, the trio made 100 goals between 2014 and 2015
and 98 goals between 2015 and 2016. The formation is not present
continually through all the matches though, as members of the trio suffer
injuries and recover. Though rumours abounded that the formation had
broken up in the 2015-2016 season, Real Madrid made clear that Karim
Benzema and Gareth Bale were recovering from injuries and once they
were in, the formation would continue.
Benzema usually surges ahead with the ball, drawing the attention of the
central midfielders. Ronaldo and Bale close in on him from behind, losing
their markers (opposition players who keep them covered) with their rapid
sprint. Benzema now makes passes, while keeping the defenders fixated
on him. This gives Ronaldo and Bale scoring chances, which they make
use of, to the fullest. Also, sometimes, the trio change position, with
Ronaldo or Bale filling in for Benzema, thus befuddling the opposition over
who to target. This trick has now largely become obsolete now though, as
all teams have adopted this tactic and the defenders have learnt to switch
their focus to the other person.
With their short, quick passes, flicks, back heel shots and flowing kicks,
the BBC move around swiftly with finesse, adding to their sting. The trio
are adept at crosses, which when executed correctly, are almost
unstoppable. Gareth Bale is especially accomplished in this. The trio make
great crosses while Ronaldo finishes the execution with his amazing
headers, standing near the goal post. If one thought that the BBC just
attack, they are gravely mistaken. The deadly trio is even better when it
comes to defence, often converting defensive stances into counter
attacks. As the opposition charges up high, creating openings at the back,
the trio sprint away after nicking the ball, running straight towards the
goal post, before their opposition could catch up with them.
With so much of attention on the BBC, which is absolutely required to
contain the rampaging trio, the defenders of Real Madrid are freed up,
leading to more scoring chances. Also, even when the whole opposition
train their eyes on the BBC, its quite hard to defend against the nimble
and shrewd trio. With Bale and Ronaldo often cutting in from the flanks,

making accurate passes, the opposition goes into a tizzy trying to

anticipate their next move.
The BBC have competition too, and are often compared with the
Barcelona triad of MSN comprising of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and
Neymar. While there are often heated arguments between the fans of Real
Madrid and Barcelona as to which grouping is the best, the answers are
still not clear. While BBC performed spectacularly in its first year of
institution, raising the hopes of fans, subsequent seasons have seen the
trios performance stagnating, frustrating the fans who expect much more
from them. Also, there have been accusations of Ronaldo being selfish and
depriving others of goal scoring chances. Karin Benzema often appears
reluctant to goal on his own, even when theres a good chance and seems
rather content at making passes to others. Though the BBCs start in this
season has been promising, it remains to be seen if they can raise up and
shoulder the expectations of Real Madrid fans world over.
