Mr. Evans used the Smartboard to review the long i and long u sounds with the students.
He used the Daily News to read and have students find works with long i and u sounds.
Mr. Evans does an outstanding job of modeling for the students.
The students were called up front to read and find works with long i and a. As students came forward Mr.
Evans were very encouraging and gave them reassurance.
Mr. Evans guided the students in their reading text as they choral read The Elves and The Shoemaker. As
the students opened the text Mr. Evans began having the student to make predictions about the story.
This was a great way to get the students engaged in the story. The students came up with some great
predictions.
Mr. Evans discussed and gave some examples of fairytales and gave an explanation about fairytales.
After reading in choral groups and discussing the story the students were then instructed to take out their
reading workbooks to work on skills.
Mr. Evans is always questioning the students to check for understanding.
Mr. Evans has good classroom management skills. He is very kind and caring with the students. He
always seems to be well prepared for his lessons.
Mr. Evans paces the lessons in a way as to teach the material, question for understanding, and move on
to other lessons or activities.
Modeling is definitely one of Mr. Evans strengths.
