Function description

The ATMOS C 31 is an ENT workstation for diagnostic and

therapeutic application in clinics and medical practice.

All electrical and electronical functions have been combined

on a control board for improved design of the interior space.

The ENT unit ATMOS C 31 offers optimum instrument

handling whilst at the same time providing an optimum
arrangement of all functions that an ENT specialist requires
for his daily work in the practice.

The ATMOS C 31 control board makes power supply

available for following functions (without voltage adaptation):

The instrument deposit area:

At the top of the functional column there is an area designed
to take medicine bottles (+, fig. 4, page 6), so that the
instrument deposit area can be used to its best advantage
for instruments.
There is also the facility for protective storage of less
frequently used instruments and consumables in the
drawers (' and (, fig. 4).

Most of the unit's surfaces are coated with a special

textured lacquer that fulfills the requirements for
workplace hygiene. However, as the lacquer is not
resistant to all medicines and disinfectants it is imperative to wipe up splashes immediately.

The pump compartment is integrated behind the service

compartment in the function column. There, the vacuum
pump is accommodated at a spring suspension. The
compressed-air pump available as option is also accommodated at this suspension.

Mirror quick heater

Cold-light system

3.4.2

Options

3.4.2.1 Ear rinsing system 37C

! The water is forwarded from the water container (#,
fig. 11), through a small riser (", fig. 11) and the lid
into the interior of the unit.
! Even in the interior range of the supply block, the water
is lead only through approved and recommended media.
The water pump (Art.No. 000.0570.0) is designed in
such a way that a maximum impact pressure of 2.5 bar
can arise and, in addition, a flow of approx. 450 ml/min
is available when using the irrigation handle. In case of
a defect, it is more reasonable to exchange the complete water pump than to replace certain parts as the
work of disassembling the pump, replacing the parts,
assembling the pump again and sealing it involves
considerable effort.

"
#

Fig. 11.

# Container
" Riser

for ear rinsing 37C

! The water pump is equipped with a distributor which

the pressure switch (Art.No. 008.0707.0) and, simultaneously, the connection for the PA hose are fixed to.
The function of the pressure switch is to switch off the
water pump as soon as the irrigation handle is not
operated. The water pump is to switch off at an impact
pressure of approx. 2 bar. Adjustment on site is to be
made in such a way that the pump switches on when
the irrigation handle is operated and water flows. It should
switch off when there is no water flow and the water
pump delivers against a closed system. Adjustment of
the pressure switch is done by a cross slot screwer.
! In case of a defect of the pressure switch, the impact
pressure will not exceed the maximum of 2.5 bar. The
total pressure range of the water system has been
designed for this impact pressure. Bursting of the hoses
is thus excluded.
! If connections, gaskets or hoses are required as spare
parts, please take the ATMOS Article-Numbers from
the illustrations and plans in the Annex. If hoses are
ordered, they will be supplied in meters.
! There is no internal backflow inside the water irrigation
handle. Thus, a simple nipple was constructed to take
the hose. This irrigation handle (Art.No. 506.5140.0) is
available as spare part. Please take the component
numbers from the illustrations in the Annex. If the hose
is ordered, it will be supplied in meters.
Subsequent installation is not possible !

12

3.4.2.2 Water system

! This option includes the extended circuit board, the water
supply with aqua stop, filter pressure regulator and
magnetic valve-controlled water allocation as well as
the waste water connection and the waste water hose.
! The complete water system is switched on and off by
the main switch of the unit.
! When the main switch is turned on, the mechanical
pressure switch at ST6 switches on REL2 if the "GND
switch" T3 is not locked. The pressure switch registers
that the rinsing hose is unpressurised when the release
lever on the water irrigation handle is operated. Then,
the water pump is switched on (half cycle supply) by
REL2 (water relay).
If a pressure of 2.0 bar is build up the pressure switch
registers that the release lever is not operated and
switches off the water pump via REL2.
Subsequent installation is not possible !

3.4.2.3 Basin rinsing

Precondition: water system
! The basin rinsing (Art.Nr. 506.7003.0) is switched on
with the push button (#, fig. 12) on the function column.
After release of the button, the basin rinsing remains
active for approx. 5s. The water quantity can be regulated
with the adjusting screw on the rinsing head.
! The rinsing time for the basin rinsing can be changed
by potentiometer P1. At delivery, the adjustment is
5.5 1s.
Subsequent installation is not possible !

Fig. 12.

13

3.4.2.4 Hose rinsing system

a) Additional container (506.7015.0)
! An additional container can be fixed on the holder of
the suction hose. Thus, an easy and quick cleaning of
suction cannulae is possible.
Subsequent installation is possible, please contact
an ATMOS technician.

Fig. 13. Plastic container for cleaning and disinfecting

solution (506.7015.0)

b) Manual hose rinsing system

(standard, 506.7005.5)
! After use of the suction system, the suction attachment
is pressed in the white rinsing attachment of the hose
rinsing system and the hose is thus rinsed.

! The container for the rinsing fluid of the hose rinsing

system is located in the service compartment at the
front of the unit (", fig. 14).
Subsequent installation is possible, please contact
an ATMOS technician.

$ Line to hose rinsing system
c) Automatic hose rinsing system
(option)
Precondition: water system
! The storage container for the automatic hose rinsing
system is automatically filled with water either 5 seconds
after switching on or when the float switch declines.
Nevertheless, the filling starts only when the safety
switch (beside the storage container) is operated. A
second float switch is integrated at a filling level of
approx. 160mm; thus, an overflow of the water in case
of an error is avoided. If the water raises beyond the
upper level the switch opens and stops the water supply
at the aqua stop valve.
Subsequent installation is not possible !

14

3.4.2.5 Compressed-air system

! The compressed-air pump is switched on whenever the
