Counting game to practice counting large numbers. (List the sequence on the board).

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher)


Create a four-digit number with student volunteers
Ask students to use base ten blocks to build the number

Have each students pull out digit cards to create the new number on the small boards.

Independent Experience(small group activity 2)


Give them a number that is identified as ones, tens, or hundreds. say a number out loud, they have to move
and make that number
Independent Experience(small group activity 3)
Each group will Roll dice to make a 2 or 3 digit number. Then show that number in 4 different ways: expanded
form, word form, number form and with base tens.

Closing
pick 5 countries and record their population, from there they make a place value chart and write the
numbers in expanded, standard, and word form and order them from least to greatest.

Assessment
Walking around while the students are working and give feedback.

Reflection 4
The activities went well especially when the students read the numbers. This let them to use
place value knowledge. If I have chance to teach this lesson again, I will reduce the numbers of
the activities because there was too many activities and the time is short.
The children learn to order the numbers. I knew that because I saw them explain that to each
other.
Next time I will try to manage the time and give less activities.
