Dear Kay Swinburne,
I wrote to you some time ago, asking you to represent my views on a 'Supranational health service' to those with legislative initiative. You refused to this and spun some line about not being able to do so because the EU had not passed a directive on this. I then responded to this, telling you that I learned on my Masters of Laws in EU law that an MEP is the only person capable of representing me on the issue as the European Parliament is expected to act in the interests of the people of the EU, of which I'm one. People who know me will tell you that when I am wronged I am never willing to let it drop - I call this my 'feminine side'. So I have looked up, and wish to refer you to the case, Roquette Freres SA v Council [1980] E.C.R 3393. This case establishes that you are an intermediary of the peoples of the EU, including myself, and must through your membership of the intermediately assembly (the European Parliament) facilitate me taking part in the exercise of power in the EU. As the Lisbon Treaty gives MEPs the right to propose laws to the European Commission then I will be expecting you to do so. As far as I'm concerned, you are not a Conservative politician, but a elected representative for Wales, and I expect you to represent me as a Welsh/British person and not the Conservative Party or yourself. Regards, Jonathan Bishop LLM
