Bible Story: So He Thought He Should Dance (David dances before God) 2 Samuel 6:12b-22a
Bottom Line: Honor God by giving Him credit.
Memory Verse: Love one another deeply. Honor others more than yourselves. Romans 12:10, NIrV
Life App: Honorletting someone know you see how valuable they really are.
Basic Truth: I can trust God no matter what.

Welcome Time
Welcome kids and spend time engaging in conversation and catching up. Get ready to experience
todays story.
Before kids arrive, pray for each regular attendee by name. Pray for those who might visit your group
for the first time. Ask God to help kids learn to humble themselves before Him, giving Him credit for
every good thing in their lives. Pray that kids would understand that God is the source of every blessing
and that they would always give Him the credit.
What You Need: Offering container
What You Do:
Collect kids offerings as they arrive.
Tell kids to check in with each other about whether they kept the promises they made to the
group last week.
Get the conversation started, if necessary, but otherwise just let kids chat and bond with each
other.
Lead you kids to large group.

Activity #1
What You Need: 2 pieces of cardstock, scissors, markers, small paper bag
What You Do:
Tell kids to work together to cut the cardstock into 26 small pieces and write a different letter on
each piece. The pieces should go into the bag.
Have kids sit in a circle.
Give the bag to one kid. Have her pull out a letter and say, I give God the credit for and
finish with something that starts with that letter.
For instance, if the letter is C, they could say, I give God the credit for creating the world and
everything in it. Or if its H, they could say, I give God the credit for helping me remember what
I studied while Im taking a test.
Continue around the circle until all the letters are gone. Theyll need to get creative with some of
the letters, but thats okay. It will help them think of things they can give God credit for that they
might not normally think about.
What You Say:
There are so many things we can give God credit for, because He has done SO much. In fact,
everything good comes from Him, so we can pretty much give Him credit for ALL good things that we
have or that happen to us! Thats amazing! [Make It Personal] (Tell kids something you want to
give God credit for. It can be something small or something big. Make it something the kids can
relate to.) As you go throughout your day, think about how you can give God credit for things. And then
do it! You can do it out loud or silently, but let Him know how much you honor Him. [Bottom Line]
Honor God by giving Him credit.

Activity #2
What You Need: Bibles
What You Do:
Let kids look up the verse in their Bibles.
Then let the kids work together to spell out each word using only their bodies. They can do this
standing or lying down. They can create each letter at one time or separately. Let them choose
the way they want to do it.
If you dont have time to do each word, choose several key words for them to do, such as: love,
honor, and others.
What You Say:
Now that youve made those words with your bodies I bet youll remember them better. And this is a
great verse to remember. Love one another deeply. Honor others more than yourselves, Romans
12:10. This isnt what the world tells us to do. The world tells us to honor ourselves, to look out for
number onemeaning ourselves. But Gods Word tells us something different that will make the world
take notice. Honoring others more than ourselves will show people that were different and we live by
different rules than the world. We live by Gods Word, which tells us to honor others and to honor Him.
And when we honor others, we show that we honor Him!
Optional Additional Discussion Questions
Is it sometimes hard to give credit to God? Why or why not?
If you give God credit publicly, and someone questions why you did it, what would you say?
Athletes, musicians, actors, and other famous people often give God credit when they win an
award or do something great. Why do you think they do this? Do you think their motives are
good? If they dont live their lives in a godly way but then give God credit, what does that do to
their credibility?
What does that do to the message of God to others that may be watching their lives but havent
yet decided to follow Jesus? If someone asks you about this, what could you say?

What You Need: Cardstock, scissors, markers, crayons

What You Do:
Hand out supplies and instruct kids to cut the cardstock into long rectangles the size of a
bookmark. Each kid needs one strip of cardstock.
Tell kids to write their name, descending down the left side of the bookmark. Then tell them to
use those letters to write words or phrases of ways they can honor God or things they can give
Him credit for.
They can then decorate the bookmarks however they want.
Encourage kids to put their bookmarks in a favorite book, their Bible, or their journal and
whenever they see it, to thank God for one of the things on the list.
Give kids a minute to silently pray to God, thanking Him for all the things He has done.
Tell parents to ask kids to tell them one thing they can give God credit for.
