Summary

Noora was well prepared for the lesson. She had a good understanding of what it
was what the children had to do. Her explanation was clear and most of the
children knew what they had to do. She used a number of techniques to get them
to listen to her and to stay on task.
She started off explaining that we can make our work more interesting by using
the Thesaurus. She used the interactive white board to introduce the work. She
had an interactive activity where they had to the word in the middle with more
interesting WOW words. The children understood the lesson and took part with
enthusiasm. Some had difficulty LA group, but she was able to assist them with
their work. Most of the children could use the previous days work and replace at
least one word with a better word.
Suggestions
The lesson was well planned but would have been better if:
More visual stimulation was used- big pictures between two friends - will help them
along. Perhaps have a poster of the animal on the table with some cut up words. They
could then sort it and used the words to label the big picture and then they could use
the Thesaurus to make it better. Doing it like this would have helped with a better
understanding for EAL children.
At the end of the session, it is very use full to look at their results when you mark the
piece of work, to see who was on task and who needs more help the next time.
Personal Focus for next lesson
Up the level of work- motivate them to get more done, some only managed to replace one
or two words using the Thesaurus.
