Procedure:

Warm up

1. R&UOE Part 12-3

Welcome your students and introduce the new section of the


course which will deal with Exam preparation.
Tell them they will share the books to work in class called
First Trainer which is intended to revise some of the
strategies and techniques to be prepared for the final exam.
Check any hmk.
Reading and use of English (R&UOE) Part 1- Training Useful
collocations
Students will practice multiple choice gap-fill using
collocations. This section mainly tests vocabulary but they
will also need to understand grammatical links between
words.
In pairs, go to ex. 1 p. 10 and match the nouns with the
verbs in the box. They are collocations with the verbs:
Make, have, go, take and do Check answers as a class group.
Ex. 4, p. 11: Students will practice collocations with
adjectives according to the prepositions given. Check after
they have some time to do it. (in pairs or individually).
Finally, go to ex 5, p. 11 and let students choose the correct
answer individually so it can be as an assessment.

Do the exam practice sections individually as a mock exam

setting a fix time of no more than 8.min


R &UOE Part 2: Training Relative pronouns and linking
elements
In this section, there is a text with 8 gaps the students will
have to fill in. There are no set words from which to choose.
This section mainly tests grammar words.
Ex. 1 p. 14, As a class group, the sts will have to complete
the extract with the appropriate relative pronoun so you
remind the student about the rule. Then, give feedback.
Ex 3. p. 14, this is a practical ex. to revise the use of relative
pronouns. Let them have some minutes to do it and then
check.
Ex.4 p. 15 deals with linking words. Before doing the
practice put the words given in the correct column
according to their use and meaning. Give feedback
Then, as a group class, do ex. 5, p. 15 choosing the correct
alternative.
Finally move to ex. 6 p. 15, individually, as an exam
practice and check

Do the exam practice sections individually as a mock exam setting
a fix time of no more than 8.min
R&UOE Part 3: Training Word Formation
In this section there is a text with 8 gaps and a word at the end of
each line. They use this word to form a new word appropriated to
fill the gap.
Look at ex. 1 p. 17 and revise some of the affixes in Word
Formation. Remind the sts that they will have to spell the
word correctly to get a point in the exam.
After that, complete the table in ex. 2 p. 17 following the
rules learnt before. Then, check.
Move to ex. 3 p. 18 where sts should complete the sentence
using the word given in the correct form. Remind them,
they should always change the word.

2 .Writing Part
1: Essay
(20 min)

Writing Part 1:Training Essay: Part 1 tests your ability to write an


opinion essay for the English teacher.
Have your sts read the task information aloud.
Ex. 1, 2 p. 34. Work in these two exercises to let sts know
how to order points or reasons in an essay.
Go to p. 35 and read the essay activity about animals in a
zoo. Try to elicit a third idea from the class.
Brainstorm some ideas that they would include under each
idea
Then, they will look at text organization reading two model
essays A and B on p. 36 and answering questions in ex ,2
and 3 on p. 35. Put them into groups 4 and two of them will
read sample A the other two sts read sample B, then they
will share their answers with the rest.

Speaking Part 1 on p. 59.
Then, in pairs they can ask one another the questions on p.
60.
Monitor and give any suggestion of needed.
