LESSON PLAN- SCIENCE YEAR 1- CLASSIFY PLANTS EATEN AND PLANTS NOT
EATEN
As I look back on my presentation of the lesson in class, I am amazed by the amount that
Ive learnt from this one small exercise. This was one of my first proper presentation of
doing an actual lesson plan and teaching it to my other peers in class. I didnt have much
practice in presenting a lesson to students of tertiary level so it was something on a new and
unique experience for me.
What went well in this lesson?
When I recap on what happen on the day of the lesson, what I can say that went well firstly, was
the effort that each group member was able to be there in order to present the lesson because
each group member had some challenges in being present to conduct the lesson. Secondly, being
able to understand the topic that we choose and being able to deliver all the objectives that we
had in the presentation. Another, thing that went well with the lesson was being able to integrate
other lessons into one lesson and making it clear so that others recognize and also being able to
deliver the lesson in a timely manner.
What did I enjoy from lesson?
I enjoyed planning the lesson. I found the lesson to be very simple and effective for year one
infants and having worked in a primary school before and teaching the infants class, I tried with
my other group members to manipulate the lesson in a way that will come across as interesting
and a learning experience as if I was teaching my previous infants one class. I also enjoyed the

way that the class members responded and interacted with the lesson. I also enjoyed gathering
the probs making stuff to make the lesson interesting.

If you were to teach this lesson, what would you have done differently?
There isnt much that I would like to do differently to this lesson because I had a great input in
planning the lesson and thus I found that most of what we did for this lesson was effective for the
lesson. However, what I think I would of like to have do differently if I am teaching this lesson
in my own classroom, I would of like to carry the students outside of the classroom like in the
school garden to teach the lesson, where I can teach the lesson and the students can also see and
be a part of the lesson with the plants around them. I would of also like to carry them on a field
trip at La Vega Estate Couva where they have a variety of plants so that it can deepen the
students interest more, and at the end of the day, each child will come back to their class with a
sample of one plant that they eat and one plant that they dont eat.
What would I add?
I would of like to add other reasons why plants are important for human lives. However, to add
this I would of like to give the students this as a homework assignment to come up with three
other reasons why plants are important for human lives to bring to class another day where by
each child together with the teacher would discuss.
What would I have left out?
I dont think that there is anything that I would of like to left out for the assignment because all
that factors that have used was what had led it to be effective.
